This article begins with a discussion of a young man named Peter, the human condition, and the condition of modern man and nuclear men. The article is then split into two parts: the condition of nuclear man ; the Church's response to nuclear man. Nouwen describes the condition of nuclear man and a generation gap in the modern western world, not between young and old, but between nuclear and pre-nuclear man.
