Biographical history
Bella Pomer is one of Canada's most prominent literary agents. As the owner of Bella Pomer Agency (established in 1978), she has played a leading role in the establishment of the independent literary agent in Canadian publishing and has represented some of the country's most familiar authors. Prior to starting her agency, Pomer was a subsidiary rights manager for Macmillan of Canada (1971-78). She has also a foreign rights representative for the University of Toronto Press (1982-88) and a rights consultant to the Toronto Public Library (1979-93).
