This item is a one page prayer by Henri Nouwen entitled, ‘Christ Redeems Us’ written for Good Friday and a one page prayer entitled ‘Fears’ for Easter Monday in ‘Living Words’ published by Creative Communications for the Parish, St. Louis, MO., Vol. 1, No. 1, Apr, May, June, 1985, p. 6. The first prayer is identified as taken from Henri Nouwen’s book: ‘A Cry For Mercy’. This prayer asks God to help the person praying to know that no sin is too great to be forgiven. It recognizes the gift of Jesus’ life and his death that was for all. The writer asks simply to stand before such a gift in humility on this day of Good Friday. The second prayer is also identified as taken from ‘A Cry for Mercy’ and speaks about the awe and joy and also the fear felt by the women who came to Jesus’ tomb. The writer identifies with these feelings and asks God for the ability to see what is happening to him each day.
