Scope and content

This series contains correspondence sent to Sheraton from a variety sources: prospective students, students, publishers, associations, and friends and colleagues. During the period of Sheraton’s final illness (roughly December 1905 to January 1906), T.R. O’Meara was responding to this correspondence at the behest of Mrs. Sheraton. Most such letters in this series have a copy of O’Meara’s response attached to the original letter. The correspondence had all been gathered together at some point and placed in a folder labeled “Correspondence addressed to Dr. Sheraton during his final illness, and answered by T.R. O’Meara, 1905-06.” This arrangement was possibly done when T.R. O’Meara’s fonds was being arranged. Where present the copies of O’Meara’s responses were affixed to the original letter. O’Meara’s replies to correspondence often mistakenly bear the date of January 1905 rather than January of 1906. Additionally, there are four address books that have been included with this series, some of which log Sheraton’s sent and received correspondence.
