Scope and content
Item consists of 1 audio cassette featuring a talk given by Fr. Bill Clarke at a Covenant Retreat in January 1986.
Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: I already mentioned the passage from Hosea, “I will allure her into the desert and I will speak tenderly to her.” That is such a beautiful and simple invitation to prayer. Yet there is a gap between being allured and being spoken tenderly to. That gap is often what discourages us from prayer. Because we live in a society that doesn’t like gaps. Our society does not form us to wait. Our society wants instant results. But most of the time we have to go into the desert first. Our busy world tells us that that is a waste of time.
