Scope and content
File consists of correspondences between David Wilson and O'Neill-Karch. Specifically, items in file include:
- Email from DW (March 2008), in response to MOK's request for help in identifying a Celtic (?) symbol. Volume I of Darcy McGee is about to be published and will be launched in Charbonnel on May 28th• Then leaving for New Zealand where he is giving a "keynote address at a conference on the Irish Diaspora". He concludes by saying: "None of this, of course, would ever have happened without all the work you did that weekend ten years ago when I applied for the Celtic Studies position ... " (MOK was Acting Principal at the time and not only managed to get DW a tenure-stream position, but Tenure itself and an appointment as Associate Professor).
- Email from MOK (March 18, 2008), will be in Paris for McGee launch.
- Email from MOK (May 20, 2008), saying that MOK saw DW interviewed on The Agenda and asking for reaction to Rick Alway' s tenure as President.
- Email from DW (May 2008): "I'm wracking my brains for stories about Rick, and except for some outrageous and unrepeatable ones about his stormy relationship with Joe Boyle, can't think of anything. Perhaps, in a sense, that's the point - he was always calm, measures, imperturbable, with a steady hand on the tiller. Captain Rick... "
- Email from MOK (May 2008): "Love the Captain Rick image... "
- Email from DW (May 25, 2008). DW explains at length "how Rick was absolutely superb at diffusing potentially acrimonious debates in College Council." MOK used this in her June 2008 speech.
- Email from DW (July 2008), asking MOK to translate an 1863 letter.
- Email from MOK (July 2008), agreeing to do so.
- Email from DW (August 1, 2008), will meet MOK over a glass of wine.
- Email from DW (March 18, 2010). DW has to give a speech in Ottawa the following week (he was the recipient of the Klibansky Award) and would like to say a few words in French. MOK has written these in manuscript form on the email.
