Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) is the centre for Swedish electroacoustic music and sound-art, run as an independent part of Musikverket (Swedish Performing Arts Agency). It was established in 1964 by the Swedish Radio under Karl Birger Blomdahl and director Knut Wiggen. Following Blomdahl's death in 1968 the Studio became an independent organization, funded by the Swedish Radio, Fylkingen, and the Swedish Royal Academy of Music.
