Scope and content
In early 1984, I was asked by the provost, Frank Iacobucci, to chair a committee to investigate problems in the Faculty of Architecture (files 2-9). Other members of the committee were Peter Russell and Christine Varcoe, a part-time degree student at Woodsworth. We met with members of the faculty, students, alumni and other architects, including the Ontario Association of Architects (files 10-16). One of the principal lightning rods for complaints was Peter Pragnell (file 14). Our report was delivered to the provost in May 1984 (file 24). We recommended various changes in the Faculty and were critical of the acting dean, Jacob Spelt, who delivered a response to our report (file 26). Our report did not, however, solve the issues and several years later Simcoe Hall tried--unsuccessfully-- to shut down the Faculty (files 25 and 27).
