File consists of George Brough's five-year diary, spanning the years 1976 to 1980. During this time, Brough was an accompanist and opera coach for the Banff School of Fine Arts and for the University of Toronto Opera School. Brough also accomanied numerous Faculty of Music and Royal Conservatory of Music students in their final recitals, exams, and master class performances.

Opera productions that Brough was involved with during this time include: Madame Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini; The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Káťa Kabanová by Leoš Janáček; Mines of Sulphur by Richard Rodney Bennett; Simon Boccanegra by Giuseppe Verdi; Don Carlos by Giuseppe Verdi; Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Wozzeck by Alban Berg; Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss; and others.

Brough also performed with the Mendelssohn Choir, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Players of Toronto, Festival Singers, Joel Quarrington, Bill Findlay, Jan Simons, Lois Marshall, Ada Bronstein, and Paul Brodie, to name a few.
