Biographical history

Gary Pieters was born in Guyana in 1967 and came to Canada as a landed immigrant in 1987. On completion of the required OAC courses he received his high school diploma from Eastern High School of Commerce in Toronto. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in 1993, and then undertook studies at the Faculty of Education for a Bachelor of Education degree which he received in 1996.

These records document Mr. Pieters student activities and as an alumnus of New College at the University of Toronto. Mr. Pieters was an active participant in the development of Caribbean students' activities such as the West Indian Students Association. As a student teacher at the Faculty of Education he was active in the Future Teachers Club, a group devoted to promoting teaching as a profession for African Canadians. Included are correspondence, brochures, flyers, clippings, photographs, reports and notes.
