  • Used for three-dimensional records including, but not limited to, toys, badges, medals, awards/plaques, clothing, furniture, buttons, sculptures and pennants.
Publications
  • Used for works that have been published including books, collective works, thesis or dissertations, journal articles, legislative material, reference material and reports.
Textual records
  • Used for records with content that is principally written words.
Architectural plans
  • Used for architectural drawings, diagrams, models, presentation panel, sketchbook and technical drawings.
Film and video
  • Used for moving image material including, but not limited to, film cartridge, film loop, film reel, video reel, videocassette, optical disc or the sound element of a moving image (audio reel, magnetic track, optical track). Term can also be used for digital moving images using file formats such as MPEG or MP4.
Audio
  • Used for audio cartridges, audio cassettes, audio compact discs, audio reels, wire recording, cylinder recording, and instrument rolls. Term can also be used for digital sound files such as mp3, wav or mp4 formats.
Electronic records
  • Used for material that is digital in nature.
Photographs and art
  • Used for material that fall into the graphic material GMD. This can include, but is not limited to, photographs (negatives, slides, albums, etc.), posters, artworks (paintings, drawings, sketches, etc.)
Maps
  • The term maps can be used for cartographic material. This includes, but is not limited to, maps, atlases, diagrams, globes, models, profiles, remote-sensing images, sections or views.
