Includes manuscript drafts for ‘I and I’, ‘Sonnets to Luxury’, ‘Red’, ‘The Motorcyclist’( a novel in progress based in part on father Lloyd Clarke’s diaries), Whylah Falls, Directions Home: Approaches to African-Canadian Literature; Lush Dreams, Blue Exile; ‘Sonnets from the Lebanese’ drafts [Salim Gold], with edits by Paul Zemokhol, Roy Wang and John Fraser; ‘Aurélian Verses’ drafts and correspondence; ‘Cinema Italiano’ drafts; journals, extensive personal and professional correspondence, 2006-2012, ‘Africana’, columns, essays, lectures, public appearances, book reviews, course material, financial information 2000-2002, personal and professional photographs, print, ephemera, ‘Africana’ and other material related to the life and work of professor, performer, poet and activist George Elliott Clarke. The original holograph notebooks and pages containing his works, lyrics, first drafts and notes form part of this accession, July 1975 - 2004. These notebooks represent the first drafts of nearly all of Clarke’s work.
