George Leonard Gorringe (January 19, 1936 - May 22, 2022) was a graduate of Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Administration at Toronto Metropolitan University (then called Ryerson Polytechnical Institute) and he graduated around 1957. He married Iris May Jennett on August 10, 1959. In 1959 he also began working for Winco Restaurants. Winco owned several restaurant businesses such as Steak and Burger, Gentleman Jim Roast Beef, Rib o’Beef, The Embassy, and Peppio’s Restaurant – all centered around Toronto and the Brass Rail in London Ontario. Gorringe was part of the management group that managed the Embassy Tavern. During his employment he had several titles including Assistant to the President, Assistant to the General Manager. He collected these materials through the process of his work for the Embassy. Some of the photos would have been displayed to promote acts and others were photos taken of performances at the Embassy.
