Scope and content

Since his undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, Watkins has been interested in Harold Innis' work, particularly his staples thesis. He would go on to write about Innis’s ideas and his legacy throughout his career. In addition, in June 1994, Mel Watkins was named the Executive Director of the new Harold Innis Research Institute which was created by the Harold Innis Foundation.

Records in this series include Watkin’s writings, research, and lecture notes about Innis and his legacy, along with Innis Memorial Lecture remarks by John Ralston Saul (1994) and Rick Salutin (1996).
