The Henri Nouwen Collection is comprised of project files and collections of material assembled after Nouwen's death. These include original Nouwen documents such as letters, programs, photos and ephemera collected by those who knew Henri and documents assembled by the Henri Nouwen Society and other organizations charged with the preservation of Nouwen's legacy and remembrance.

Many of the series of the Henri Nouwen Collection are being actively processed.

Further accruals are expected.
System of arrangement
Although some of the series have been treated as distinct fonds in the past, the materials constituting the Henri Nouwen Collection have been arranged into project-based series for ease of access. This imposed order is arranged into the following series:
