This fonds consists of two accessions, only one of which is fully described.

The records received in 2008 (B2008-0011) consist of three series (and only 1.06 metres):
-Series 1: Administration, documents his activities as member and chair of the Planning and Priorities Subcommittee of Governing Council.

  • Series 2 and 3 relate to his academic activities of teaching and publishing.

Accession B1989-0002 (7.18 metres) contains predominantly teaching materials such as lecture notes, course files and files relating to graduate students’ PhD theses. As well there are research materials, manuscripts for published and unpublished works, and a few files relating to administrative functions in the department of Geography at Erindale College and additional files on the Planning and Priorities Subcommittee.

Andrews 2008 accession

Records in this accession consist of three series. Series 1 - Administration, documents his activities as member and chair of the Planning and Priorities Subcommittee of Governing Council. Series 2 and 3 relate to his academic activities of teaching and publishing.

Andrews 1989 accession

Consists of correpondence; course and lecture notes; research files, especially with regard to the Vidal Durkheim project; manuscripts and publications; theses and graduate studies papers; course material and term papers on urban geography, especially civic elections and the Spadina Expressway; and administrative files documenting the career of Howard Frederick Andrews with the Department of Geography at Erindale College/UTM and the Centre for Urban and Community Studies at the University of Toronto.

Administration

The records in this series contain the working papers of Prof. Andrews as a member of the Planning and Priorities Subcommittee of the Planning and Resources Committee of Governing Council from 1976 through his period as Chair (1978-1980). The Subcommittee was established on September 23, 1976 to replace the Planning Subcommittee for the academic session 1976-1977. Included are copies of agenda, reports, original correspondence and notes taken at meetings. Since Prof. Andrews also represented Erindale College, files relating to the College’s submissions to this Subcommittee will also be found.

Teaching

The records consist of files relating to graduate courses only: GGR 441ES Images of Cities, GGR 1549 Readings in theoretical geography, and JGS 340Y (1987-88) Concepts, methods and values in urban studies. Records include lecture notes, class assignments, examinations and reading lists.
