Cards

File includes three cards: a thank-you note from Frank and Lilian Harbutt (1968), a retirement card from the Physical Services Department, and a retirement card from "Catherine (alias Christine)".

Appointment to Principal

File includes a letter from University of Toronto President Claude Bissell to Plumptre indicating that the board of governors has voted in favour of his nomination, a telegram from Plumptre to his wife stating that the board has approved his election, and several clippings regarding the election.

File includes several documents produced by or for Plumptre during his tenure as principal: Scarborough College Council opening meeting speech, thank-you letter from V.W. Bladen, finance and policy report for 1965-1966, formal opening of Scarborough College speech, seating plan for formal opening dinner, seating plan for board of governors dinner, 1969 progress report to the Senate, and certificate of honorary college membership. Also includes two copies of registration guidelines (n.d., c. 1970).

File includes clippings regarding the opening of the college, its architecture, Plumptre's appointment and retirement, as well as articles written by Plumptre.

The fonds serves as a representative sample of the activities carried out, and the relationships engendered, during A.F.W. Plumptre's tenure as principal of Scarborough College from 1965 to 1972. Both official papers and personal documents are included. Official documents include: reports, correspondence, transcripts of speeches, and seating plans. Personal documents include: invitations, cards, photograph albums, clippings, publications, books, and artifacts.
