Sound recordings of Nouwen's interviews with the Flying Rodleighs

File consists of twelve audio cassettes containing the audio recordings of the interviews with The Flying Rodleigh members and Nouwen from November 1991 and May 1992. SR176 v.1 and SR176 v.2 are of Nouwen recording his thoughts and impressions regarding the Flying Rodleighs and their trapeze act.

File consists of seven audio cassettes of Thomas Merton talks given to the monks and the community of the Abbey of Gethsemani and later published by Electronic Paperbacks in 1972. The seven audio cassettes, from a published collection of twelve called "The Merton Tapes", include numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12.

A letter of response from Nouwen's secretary states that Nouwen was unable to respond to this request because he was out of the country.

Also includes a travel itinerary for a trip to New York where Nouwen attended the wedding of Fred Bratman and Robin.

File consists of correspondence, with Barb Martens and Bonny Kinnuen, regarding a visit to L'Arche Daybreak. Barb and Bonny were both students at the Wertburg Theological Seminary. Includes letters from both Barb and Bonny expressing their desire to visit Daybreak and a copy of Nouwen's response offering them an opportunity to spend time in the community. Also includes a thank you note from Bonny.

Annual National Prayer Breakfast, Ottawa - March 21, 1991

File consists of correspondence and other material, mainly with Jim Edwards, M.P. and Bill Bussiere, regarding Nouwen's participation in the National Prayer Breakfast in Ottawa, Ontario. Nouwen gave the address for the breakfast on the theme "Beloved." Includes invitations, programs, music, travel itinerary, travel costs, a transcript of the event including Nouwen's address, and notes in Nouwen's hand for the address. Correspondence regarding arrangements for the event and thank-you letters from many people are included with a copy of Nouwen's response. A videotape of the event and a photograph of Nouwen with Brian Mulrooney were sent to Nouwen with a letter from Jim Edwards but are not in the file. Also includes a signed program by Brian Mulrooney. Some of the materials are in French.

File consists of correspondence and other material regarding Nouwen's lecture at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, Kildare, Ireland. The title of Nouwen's lecture was " From Communion to Community and Ministry." Proceeds of the event went to the Trocaire Lenten Campaign. Includes material about the Trocaire campaign including a brochure, poster, sticker, and box. Also includes a copy of the march 1991 issue of the "The Furrow," a journal for the Contemporary Church. The travel itinerary indicates Nouwen also went to Holland during this trip. There is nothing in the file about Holland, he probably went for a personal visit.

File consists of correspondence, with Mary McCann, and other material regarding Nouwen speaking at the Regis College 1991 Lecture Series, Regis College, Toronto, Ontario. The theme of Nouwen's talk was "From Communion to Community: The Contemplative Journey." Includes brochures and tickets for the lecture series and brochures for other Regis College events.

Sipe's article entitled "Memento Mori: Memento Vivere- in the Rule of St. Benedict" is included in the file, however, the letter from Sipe is not.

Includes notes of a meeting planning for the conference, an agenda for the conference, and notes from the discussion with Nouwen on "Where do we go from here?" written by Jeff Boerger sent in a letter from David Robson. Also includes correspondence with Nouwen, regarding arrangements for the conference and thank-you letters. Includes correspondence with Allan Read, Bishop of Ontario. A copy of Nouwen response is included with most letters.

File consists of correspondence and other material regarding a visit by Mary Cosby to L'Arche Daybreak. Includes copies of a picture and biography of Mary Cosby, co-founder of the Church of the Saviour. Also includes a memo and itinerary regarding her visit and a thank-you letter. Some notes written by Nouwen regarding Mary's travel arrangements are on the back of the program for Daybreak's Epiphany Celebration from January 6, 1991 that had the theme "The Gift is Ourselves."
