Includes corporate files from the Canadian Bata Shoe Company (including correspondence; legal and financial records; product development, marketing and promotional files; technical and production-related files, and human resources files). The bulk of the material was created by the Canadian Bata company, however many records relate to several of the organization’s international outposts, including companies headed in Africa, India, Asia and Europe. The collection also includes press clippings and other publications about the Bata Company and its historical significance. There are also a small number of Bata family records, primarily for Thomas J. Bata (1914-2008), Sonja I. Bata, Tomáš Baťa (1876-1932) and Marie Bata.
Part of Coach House Press Papers
This is the first accession of the Coach House Press (CHP) papers by the Fisher Library. It primarily includes files accumulated and maintained by Stan Bevington, founder of the CHP. (While Library and Archives Canada holds a significant amount of Coach House Press materials, Bevington held back many of his own personal files related to CHP, with the intention of donating them to the Fisher Library). The papers include accounting materials for the Press–price quotes, sales invoices, payroll information, etc. –and other materials related to the running of the CHP. It also includes material collected by Bevington, dubbed “Stan’s ephemera,” which contain handwritten notes written by Bevington, as well as correspondence, programs and other assorted and interesting items.
The collection is particularly noteworthy for its extensive collection of computer-related material, including the files for SoftQuad, the company co-founded by Bevington that was at the forefront of the digital age in publishing. Bevington is considered a publishing pioneer in the transition to digital technology from traditional typesetting.

Includes, variously, drafts and edited drafts of published and unpublished works, correspondence, reviews, notes, and other material related to a number of short stories and the following novels: “The Kidnapping of Rosie Dawn”, “A Likely Story”, “Finding Home”, “Dempsey’s Lodge”, and “The Land Mine” (1998-2015). Also includes business correspondence with, and royalty reports from publishers, correspondence and other materials related to a proposed film/television adaptation of “The Night the Gods Smiled”, a number of clippings of Wright’s short stories and essays that appeared in magazines and newspapers (including three translated stories from European publications), clippings of feature articles about or mentioning Wright from newspapers and magazines, and cassette tapes containing interviews with Wright and a 1985 CBC reading of “The Night the Gods Smiled” (1984-2015). This collection also includes some personal correspondence, fan mail, photographs, and memorabilia (193?-199?), personal/travel journals ranging between 1976 and 2010, and appointment calendars for 1991- 2015.

Also included are numerous drafts of Scott Harris’ works At the Exact Speed Necessary / Learning My Father’s Death (2005-2016), and Waters Remembered (2015), along with travel diaries, personal calendars and photographs, and a number of poetry chapbooks published in Canada.

This accession of Maureen Scott Harris’ papers includes a significant amount of personal correspondence from the 1960s to the present, along with professional correspondence, mainly from 2015. It also contains materials relating to the Renga 10 collaborative poetry project, and to the Abundance chapbook and event, in addition to a number of periodicals in which Scott Harris’ poetry has been published. The collection also includes Scott Harris’ notes from a course taught by Northrup Frye at the University of Toronto in 1982-1983, along with promotional material from Brick Books, and a variety of audio/visual material.

Interview with Leighton Harrell conducted by Hillary Chu
Item is a video recorded interview between Rosemonde Desjardins (interviewer, representative of FoMARA) and Leighton Harrell (interviewee). Leighton Harrell is a bassist and composer from Raleigh, North Carolina, currently attending the University of Toronto's Jazz Performance program. Leighton has held a biweekly residency at Poetry Jazz Cafe with his quartet since 2019. He has also performed at venues such as The Toronto Jazz Festival, the Kensington Market Jazz Festival, and Toronto Meridian Centre for the Arts. As a composer and artist, Leighton draws inspiration from hymns and spirituals, folk music, and various traditions of Black American Music. Leighton and Hillary's conversation covers topics including Black AMerican Music, colonialism, cultural appropriation, performative diversity, and music pedagogy.
Interview with Ricardo Ferro conducted by Rosemonde Desjardins
Item is a video recorded interview between Rosemonde Desjardins (interviewer, representative of FoMARA) and Ricardo Ferro (interviewee). Ricardo Ferro is a Venezuelan-Canadian composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Toronto, Ontario. As an emerging composer, Ricardo has written music for and worked with North American ensembles and performers such as the Calidore String Quartet, Oakville Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Younggun Kim. He has written award-winning music for film and theatre for the Sundeis Film Fastival in Boston and the National Theatre School Festival in Canada. In 2019, Ricarod co-founded the Green Room Sound Collective, a contemporary music organization dedicated to the creation and performance of new dramatic and multimedia works of music, and is currently their artistic director. Ricardo is currently pursuing a degree in composition at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. Ricardo and Rosemonde's conversation covers topics including eurocentrism in music, music pedagogy, Black Lives Matter, and representation.
Interview with Tara Kannangara conducted by Hillary Chu
Item is a video recorded interview between Hillary Chu (interviewer, representative of FoMARA) and Tara Kannangara (interviewee). Tara Kannangara is a vocalist and instrumentalist known for her diverse sound. She is a Juno-nominated artist, and holds a degree in Jazz studies from the Unviersity of Toronto. Tara has performed across North America at venues including the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., and New York City's Jazz Gallery. Tara is currently a sessional teacher at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Music's Jazz program. Tara and Hillary's conversation covers topics including assimilation, gender disparity, music pedagogy, racial inequity, and systemic discrimination.
