The subseries includes menus from China, (Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai), Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China), Egypt, Guam (United States), India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan (Republic of China), Tibet (Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China), Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. Menus feature Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indonesia, Italian, European, Russian, American, vegetarian and seafood cuisine.

The subseries comprises countries from the following areas: Eastern Asia, South-East Asia and Western Asia and Middle East.

Hong Kong and Tibet have been treated as separate geographical areas for retrieval purposes.

Although part of Russia is found on the Asian continent, all menus from Russia are found in the Europe subseries.

The collection also consists of material related to zoo displays and architecture, catalogues and books related to zoo and animal collecting, photographs off various zoo related animals found in different parts of America and a board game. The material is divided into five series:

Bender, Daniel E.

Africa

The subseries includes menus from countries part of the African continent including Kenya, Morocco and South Africa. Delivery and take away options are a feature of many restaurants. Menus are from various cities include Pretoria, Marrakech and Nairobi. Menus feature Thai, French, Moroccan, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine.

Frank Buck

The series contains material related to Frank Buck the animal hunter, movie actor, producer, director and author. Material consists of ads, movie stills, books (primarily in comic book style), and trading cards.

Zoo Photographs

Photographs in this series depict zoo officials weighing a gorilla, an elephant pinning its keeper to the ground, a camel at Highland Park Zoo during a zoo sit-down strike, a photograph of Mr. Moke the Chimpanzee with a Mr. Robert Tomarchin, who was charged with stealing the Chimpanzee from the St. Louis Zo,o and a zoo official feeding a 4 month old Chimpanzee.

Europe

The subseries includes menus and some correspondence from countries that are a part of the European continent including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Wales.

The subseries comprises areas part of Central, Eastern, Western, Southern and Northern Europe.
Menus feature Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Thai, Finnish, Vietnamese, Mongolian, Indian and Indo-Chinese, Russian and seafood cuisine.

Menus types found in this subseries includes take away menus, static menus, bound menus, trifold formatted menus, and photocopies. Business cards for a small portion of the restaurants are attached to the menus.

The UTSC Photographic Services fonds covers the years of approximately 1964 and 1966 to 2008. The collection represents an invaluable visual history of the University of Toronto Scarborough campus and is made up almost entirely of photographic materials – negatives, contact sheets, slides, and prints.

Photographs in the collection from the 1970s to 1994 are attributed to David Harford and photographs from 1994 onward are attributed to Ken Jones. Photographs cover a broad range of subjects, such as the buildings and grounds of UTSC, campus events, faculty, staff, students, and much more.

Photographic Prints

Series C: Photographic Prints contains all of photograph prints that were housed in paper folders and filing cabinets in the office of Ken Jones. The folders were arranged by subject. For the most part, folders are labelled by subject but the folders and some photographs were out of order when the records were transferred to UTSC Library. In some cases, folders contain photos that do not reflect the subject of the original folder label.
