Collection of 190 pieces of vellum in Greek and Latin illustrating the history and development of handwriting from the 4th century until the end of the Middle Ages. Items 1-21 (which are Coptic in origin) illustrate the development of uncial writing from the beginning up to its decline in Egypt in the 9th century. All leaves, with the exception of items 106 and 170 are mounted; items 62-90 and 113-169 are bound volumes.

John Millyard Papers

This accession of John Millyard's papers is the first by the Fisher Library. It consists primarily of materials - including manuscripts, correspondence and research materials used to produce the books The Money Jar (first published by Key Porter Books, 1990), The Money Gap (published by Money Jar Publishing, 1997), and The Money Team (Money Jar Publishing, 1999). It also consists of material related to Money Jar Publishing, Millyard's independent company, and for the book Fiddlers and Whores (London: Chatham, 2006), a diary/journal written in 1807 by a man who worked as a surgeon with Lord Nelson's fleet in the Mediterranean, which Millyard was instrumental in getting published.

Alberto Manguel Papers

This latest accession complements and builds on the existing collections of Alberto Manguel's papers held at the Fisher Library. Joe Rosenblatt Papers

This collection consists of manuscript drafts and other material related to various writing projects by poet and visual artist Joe Rosenblatt, including Parrot Fever (published by Exile Editions, 2002) as well as two as-yet unpublished works: Dog Poems, a collaboration with Vancouver-based poet Catherine Owen and photographer Karen Moe, and Hogg Variations / The Lunatic Muse, a collaboration with Barry Callaghan. The collection also contains a large volume of correspondence, primarily e-mail.

The collection consists of seven diaries detailing the life John George Mudge. When the diaries open, Mudge is living in Ireland where he owns a creamery at Ballygrenane, near Listowell. By 1904, he has moved to Devon and by 1906 he is working at Oxford House in East London. In the summer of 1907, he journeys to Canada, visiting Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Vancouver. The latter years of the diaries are illustrated with numerous photographs, postcards and ephemera.

The collection consists of a small group of documents and letters by or about Rousseau, the bulk of which are notes on the history of women taken by Rousseau from a variety of books. He appears to have compiled these notes acting as secretary to Louise Marie Madelaine (Fontaine) Dupin, who had hoped to write a book on the history of women (the work was never completed).

Leon Katz Collection

Consists largely of photographs, many of them signed, primarily of artists and writers. Also contains background material Katz collected on the various individuals represented in his Momento Books, including newspaper clippings and related correspondence. It also includes photographs of Henry Moore's work, material from the Arts & Letters Club of Toronto during the 1970s, and misc. professional material (photographs, correspondence, patents, printed matter) from Leon Katz's career as owner and president at Canada X-Ray Ltd. Personal material includes letters from Katz's parents written in the 1930s and a journal kept by Katz from 1958-1961. Additional correspondence includes holiday cards from friends, as well as letters from anonymous collectors solicited by Katz in advertisements in various magazines for a study he hoped to do on the psychology of collecting.

Papers consist of “birthday books”- albums created by Anna Pachner Klement for her grandson, Tomaš (Tomi), beginning at age two, when he was diagnosed with Sydenham’s chorea. Albums depict stories of a young boy and his adoring grandmother and the life of one Jewish family during the 1930’s. Two years after Tomi’s birth, Adolf Hitler came to power, and the albums begin to record the changing attitude towards Jews in Czechoslovakia. The last album was written in 1940 and in it Mrs. Klement describes how they are forbidden to go to the theatre or the movies. Also included in the family papers are photo albums, photographs, Anna Klement’s diaries, poems by Anna Klement, family papers including obituaries, marriage certificates, etc., and Olga Klement’s diaries as well as her art work, autobiography, correspondence, notebooks and betacam tapes.
