Personal correspondence with friends and University officials, brochures, flyers, pamphlets, and reports relating to courses in Caribbean studies created and collected during Mr. Pieters undergraduate years (B.A. Political Science, 1993) at New College. Also included is a file on New College Alumni Association containing copies of reports, etc relating to the provostial review of the college, 1996. This series also includes photos documenting his activities as a student including social events, meetings, dinners and his graduation.

Correspondence is mainly with colleagues regarding on-going research and results. Included is some correspondence with Dr. Ken Fisher, Dr. Scott's associate.

This series is comprised of professional correspondence, incoming and outgoing, between William and his colleagues and/or students. Correspondence is usually filed by the person's name but some files reflect the type of correspondence ie. recommendations, references, applications. The correspondence relates mainly to research endeavours being undertaken with colleagues or students, meetings or symposiums in which Williams was participating, visits from international colleagues, recommendations of students for post-graduate scholarships or employment positions and applications from students wanting to study under Williams.

This series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence arranged chronologically. Included is some personal correspondence but most is professional correspondence with colleagues on varied academic and administrative topics including exhibits, issues on teaching architecture, research and design philosophy. Also included is administrative correspondence within the Faculty.

This series gives a good overview of Prof. Moggridge’s career. Correspondence and personnel documents discuss appointments, applications, leaves and promotions. There are also several files relating to awards and fellowships as well as research grant applications. Finally, there is a copy of an unpublished autobiography with related notes.

Tony Clement was President of the "UC Lit", the students' administrative council of University College from 1981-1982. This series contains minutes of meetings, general and subject arranged correspondence, constitution revisions, and other files relating to functions of the Council such as elections, orientation, and finances.

General incoming and outgoing correspondence with mathematical colleagues throughout the world but mainly in Canada and the United States discussing mathematical theories, progression of research as well as talks, visits and informal meetings.

Correspondence is loosely arranged chronologically with one file devoted solely to correspondence between Hull and Dr. Edsger W. Dijkstra of the Technological University of Eindhoven (Netherlands) and one devoted to the discussion of computer arithmetic.

Series consists of records documenting Prof. Marrus’s personal life and education, including a copy of his CV, photocopies of personal documents, and a journal from his trips to Israel in 1983, 1988, 1989 and 1990. The series also contains his PhD thesis from Berkeley (The politics of assimilation: a study of the French Jewish community at the time of the Dreyfus affair) and some records pertaining to the 1964 free speech movement at Berkeley, in which Prof. Marrus was involved as a student, including leaflets, news clippings, and a monograph.

The series also documents two of Prof. Marrus’s later educational pursuits. The first is a certificate from an Italian course at Centro Internazionale Dante Alighieri (2002). In addition, the series documents his time as a student in the Faculty of Law’s Master of Studies in Law program in 2004/05, including press coverage, transcripts, correspondence, essays, timetables, lecture notes, and his thesis.

Lastly, the series contains records relating to Prof. Marrus’s appointment into the Order of Canada, including the program, general information sent from Rideau Hall, letters of congratulations, and photographs.

This series contains, in addition to letters, a wide range of material associated with the ongoing production of the Atlas: notes, memoranda, reports, brochures, partial drafts of the manuscript, photoprints and maps. The arrangement is generally chronological, except where otherwise noted.

Over the course of forty years, Dr. Biringer established himself as leading researcher in electrical engineering, especially in the areas of non-linear circuits, electromet and electroheat processes. These notes appear to have been taken for his own research, for use in lectures and in relation to his numerous consulting activities. Additional notes, related directly to lectures being given or to consulting activities, appear in those series.

His earliest research is not represented in this series which contains notes, experimental data, and a few articles relating to particular research topics. The principal areas covered are arc furnaces, channel induction furnaces, heating coils, electron beams, electro-magnetic stirring, and frequency changers.

Consists of general research files used by Dr. Paul A. Bator in the writing of his Within Reach of Everyone, a history of the School of Hygiene.

The correspondence provides a comprehensive overview of Professor Nowlan’s activities as an economist, teacher, administrator and researcher from 1964 to 1998. Topics include: academic computing, conferences, environmental education, library automation, political correspondence, publications, research grants, sabbaticals, scholarly support, super computer, university appointments and university budgets.

This series contains curriculum vitae, career related correspondence regarding job offers, tenure, promotions, pensions, sabbaticals; the awarding of grants including applications and supporting documentations; biographical profiles submitted to Who's Who in America; and requests for financial support for travel.

This series consists of the general files that Mr. Grenville assembled in his attempt to write Dr. Solandt’s story. It begins with a variety of biographical information on Dr. Solandt, including curriculum vitae, tributes and obituaries, his memorial service, press clippings, and an article about him. This is followed by grant applications, a project outline, correspondence, and files on sources, family history, and Dr. Solandt’s activities (including summaries of diaries), arranged alphabetically. The principal areas of activity covered are the atomic bomb/nuclear weapons, Canadian National Railway, Defence Research Board, forestry, medical research, operational research, the Science Council of Canada, and ‘voyaguers’. The photographs associated with some of the files have been removed and stored separately.

This small series consists of biographical information, including copies of Professor Munro’s curriculum vitae, the family scholarship he created at the University of British Columbia, and most of his activity and appointment calendars from 1981 to 2012. Some of the entries on the last were made by him and others by his wife, Jeanette.

This series contains passports, daily agendas (58 volumes) and an address book, as well as files relating to the Banff School of Fine Arts, Professor Peers’ academic life, awards that he received and books that he wrote. Also included are a class photograph of the East Coulee School where Peers taught and was principal from 1939-1942, personal correspondence, photographs of Peers with friends, travel documents and records relating to his 90th birthday and the memorial service held upon his death. The series concludes with a file of records relating to David Rayside, a U of T professor and close friend of Peers.

The “biographical information” file [/003(04)] contains, amongst many other items, several pieces that Professor Peers himself penned between 1980 and 2002 about his family and background and his years as a high school teacher. Included with this is a CD from one of his nieces, Bev Swanton, titled “Acadia Valley Homecoming 2012”, that celebrates the hamlet, the surrounding farms (including that of the Peers family) and includes the centennial parade.

This series consists of Professor Helleiner’s numerous publications and unpublished manuscripts spanning his career during the 1920s and 30s as an archivist in St. Pölten, Austria, and throughout the over 30 years he was an economic historian at the University of Toronto. Records include off-prints of the majority of his publications appearing in European and North American academic journals; unpublished manuscripts and notes; drafts of his books The Imperial Loans: A Study in Financial and Diplomatic History and Free Trade and Frustration: Anglo-Austrian Negotiations 1860-70; chapters in books he edited or contributed to; and numerous review articles and book reviews. Files in this series have been arranged chronologically, with book reviews arranged separately in 8 files at the end of the series.

This series consists of records documenting Mary O'Brien's life and career as a nurse and midwife in Glasgow and Montreal, and her subsequent academic career as a feminist philosopher. Includes: articles and reviews of Mary O'Brien; records related to her involvement with the Feminist Party of Canada; letters from faculty, staff, academic community-at-large, and former students in support of Mary O'Brien for the 1987 OCUFA Teaching Award; sound recordings of an interview and awards ceremony; and obituaries and tributes to O'Brien following her death.

This series contains material relating to Prof. York’s life. It includes a curriculum vitae from 1998 and a copy of the U of T National Report on Derek York and his work with laser probe argon-argon dating.

B2013-0015 consists of records from Prof. Rayside’s time as a university student, with most material documenting his undergraduate degree at Carleton University. This series contains correspondence, notes, drafts, submitted essays, press clippings, photographs and application forms documenting both his academic work and his extra-curricular activities including student council, the Political Science Student Union, the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Teaching and Learning and his work on the student residence constitution. Files are arranged chronologically by degree, and by activity within each degree, with academic coursework at the front and extra-curricular activities at the back. There is one file at the beginning of the series containing souvenirs unrelated to his early education.

B2017-0024 includes two short biographies on David Rayside, one of which was a contribution to MyOntario in 2017.

The three files in this series contain copies of Professor Hartle's curriculum vitae, printouts of his computer directories and logs, and a list of his journals.

This series consists of a volume of Longfellow's poetry (last part, including back cover missing), with a bookplate with the coat-of-arms of the Williams family (Sir John Bickerton Williams, Kt., LLD, FSA), a certificate for the family plot in Mount Pleasant Cemetery (1916), a medical certificate for Edith (Bud) Williams from England (1927), and press clippings about her passion for mountain climbing (1962).

Series consists of minutes (including extracts), notes and drafts, reports and other records of the Victoria College Board. Also includes minutes of the annual meetings of ministers of the Wesleyan Methodist Church to elect Board and Officers of the College, 1862-1866. Also consists of a book created in 1869 out of the controversy between Dr. I. B. Aylesworth and some members of the Victoria College Board regarding the amount and payment of funds raised to pull the College out of debt: the book contains correspondence, resolutions, and financial statements, 1862-1869; printed statement regarding the controversy made to the Board by Dr. Aylesworth, 1873.

The material in this series consists of copies of Professor Franceschetti’s curriculum vitae, correspondence on his gaining Canadian citizenship in 1979, a folder of greeting cards and a copy of his 'dottore in lettre' thesis from the University of Padua (1963), and two certificates.

In-coming as well as out-going correspondence was arranged by Lee in various runs. Filed at the beginning is a chronological series of files containing letters from 1967-1972. One file contains job offers from various universities in 1969-70 while another file relates to correspondence around his job offer at the University of Toronto. Apart from job offers, most of the correspondence is with colleagues world wide and is of both a professional and personal nature. Much of the early correspondence relates to field trips to the Kalahari and related research.

The second run of files is general alphabetical files with correspondence dating from about 1970 to 1975. Again this correspondence relates mainly to Prof. Lee’s research and is from colleagues and students. It includes comments on his publications and routine requests for information and advice, requests to attend seminar and talks and other professional meetings, as well as Prof. Lee’s reports or comments as a peer reviewer of papers. There are also letters of recommendation, reviews of theses and general correspondence documenting his role as a teacher.

A third run is an alphabetical run of files arranged by the correspondent. Correspondence is similar in nature to the general alphabetical files described above but is more voluminous for each person and covers a time period mainly from 1965-1975 with the bulk dating from the late 1960s to 1972. Included is correspondence with well known anthropologists such as Carl Heider (Brown University / University of Southern California), Adam Kuper (University College, London), Mary Leakey, Sidney Mintz (Yale University), Julian Steward (Colombia / University of Illinois), Sherwood Washburn (Harvard University and Lee’s advisor) and Eric Wolf (City University of New York).

Finally, Prof. Lee himself arranged a small run of correspondence files from famous people or people influential in his professional development. They include people such as Margaret Atwood and Carl Sagan as well as fellow anthropologists Philip Tobias and Bruce Trigger.

In addition to the correspondence from the 2007 donation, there is a grouping of correspondence from the 2012 addition. This is arranged alphabetically by correspondent, with occasional subject file as designated by Lee. Many of the earlier correspondents appear in this section again.

The series partially documents Francess Halpenny’s education received at Maxville Sunday School in 1927 ; at the Public Schools of the Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry in 1928 ; and at the Oakwood Collegiate Institute, from 1931 to 1936. It also partially documents her undergraduate education, from 1937 to 1940, (B.A. in English literature) and her graduate studies (M.A. English literature) at the University of Toronto, in 1940 and 1941. The series documents the friendship between Francess Halpenny and Elizabeth and Jennifer Harper, between 1983 and 1986 ; Halpenny’s participation to social events, such as the dinner for 40th wedding anniversary of Morley and Clara Thomas in 1982, a dinner at Rideau Hall in 1983 and an evening in honour of Floyd S. Chalmer, Jean A. Chalmer and John Beckwith in 1984.

The series consists of 7 files including certificates and diplomas, course notes, Faculty of Arts Class and Prize Lists, correspondence and press clippings. It also includes one letter received from J. Mavor Moore, 16 October 1989 regarding Halpenny’s course notes he had kept from the University years ; a certificate of Honour Award received in recognition of her contribution to the undergraduate life at the University of Toronto, 7 June 1940 ; personal correspondence received after a period of illness in 1984 ; the address she gave at J. Russell Harper funeral and his obituary for the Royal Society of Canada.

This series consists of files documenting Professor Friedland’s personal and family activities. It begins with a number of files documenting Friedland’s activities as a student and professor of law at the University of Toronto, his post-retirement professional and other activities. There follow files relating to members of his family, arranged by name, which focus broadly on family affairs and more specifically on personal lives, including professional and social activities, achievements, births, weddings and deaths. These are followed by other files containing correspondence sent home from England, Europe and Israel, and relating to the Friedland residences on Hillsdale Avenue and Belsize Drive.
