Minutes and related records of the Board of Regents

Sub-series consists of the minutes and related records of the Board of Regents of Victoria University. In the earlier records, university federation is a dominant subject as well as the move from Cobourg to Toronto . Also included are the minutes of other committees, including the executive committee, and a building committee concerned with women's residences, and minutes of a special meeting concerning the University Bill.

Currently the Board of Regents meets four times a year, which includes a Strategy Day

Records related to the Chancellor and Chancellor's council of Victoria University

The sub-series consists of records related to the search and installation of chancellors as well as congratulatory messages from various institutions to Dr. Sang Chul Lee, Norman Jewison and Dr. Carole Sandra Taylor for being named Chancellors of Victoria University. Also contains records related to the Chancellor's Council and its committees.

General subject/correspondence files

Sub-series consists of files relating to a variety of subjects/correspondents such as studies/surveys, scholarships/awards, installations (Principal's), grants/funding, lectures, senior administrators, Victoria University committees and reunion dinners as well as subject files on academic courses, enrollment programming and departments.

Administration and General Files

Sub-series consists of ongoing subject and correspondence files for the activities and responsibilities of the Registrar's Office, including provision of services, creation of policies and procedures, office administration, participation in associations and discussions with University of Toronto Faculty of Arts and Science, campus, office and program planning, attendance at conferences and meetings, financial activities, and program reviews.

Records include reports, correspondence, planning documents, statistics, mail-outs, correspondence, forms, etc.

Sub-series also contains correspondence with the Department of Veteran Affairs about students who served in WWII.

General records

Sub-series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence, contact lists, and working records relating to obtaining permission to publish Frye material in the various volumes, 1994-2009; records re financial arrangements/funding, 1993-2011; articles, correspondence and other records relating to publicity, 1991-2009, and reviews from newspapers and literary/academic journals, 1996-2010.

Records of the General Editor

Subseries consists of correspondence/subject files of the General Editor Alvin Lee, 1995-2011, containing incoming/outgoing correspondence and accompanying material with Associate Editor Jean O'Grady, and with individual Collected Works editors, editorial assistants and others regarding primarily the creation and publication of the various volumes; may also include personnel material, and records relating to conferences and other non-Collected Works Frye matters

Records of the Associate Editor

Sub-series consists of records of Associate Editor, Jean O'Grady, 1992-2011, including incoming/outgoing correspondence, notes, lists, reports, schedules and other records relating to Collected Works matters such as personnel, editing, annotation, style, the Frye estate, research, planning/progress of work, and Frye material not included for publication; incoming/outgoing correspondence, reports, revisions, and editorial notes relating to individual volumes; and incoming/outgoing correspondence/subject files with/about editors, research/editorial assistants and others (includes John Robson correspondence.)

Records relating to Minto Development

Sub-series consists of lease/purchase agreements, reports, appeals and other legal records, correspondence and other records re Minto Development, 2003–2008; and four volumes titled “The Board of Regents Sale To Minto 2 St. Thomas Street Development Inc. of 2 St. Thomas Street, Toronto (formerly 100–108 Charles Street West) and Lease To Minto St Inc. of 4-6-8 St. Thomas Street, Toronto, Closing Date May 9, 2008” by Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP.

Bible course

Sub-series consists of records relating to Johnston's teaching of the Bible course at Victoria College, 1961-2008, including course outlines, assignment descriptions, lecture notes, and some student work and information.

Records related to Admissions, Enrolment and Graduation

Sub-series consists of records related to admissions, enrollment, student registration, and graduation. Includes recruitment of students, petitions from students, complaints and discipline issues, applications to graduate, etc. Records cover planning, administration, statistical analysis, and interactions with students.

Graduate courses

Sub-series consists of records relating to Johnston's teaching of graduate courses, 1976-2005, including course syllabi, handouts, lecture notes, and bibliographies.

Minutes and other records of Victoria University bodies

Sub-series consists of minutes and other records, 1966-2005, of non-Library Victoria University bodies, including the Margaret Ray and Florence Pratt Committee, Archives Management Committee, Committees of Emmanuel College Council, President's Advisory Committee on Staff Relations, Victoria College Council, the Board of Regents, the Senate, and the President’s Office, 1966–1999.

Records of the Budget Committee

Series consists of annual budgets for operating and capital expenditures of Victoria University. Early budgets were prepared by the Finance Committee. Series also consists of the minutes, copies of budget and reports, and related records of the Budget Committee (sub-committee and standing committee).

Chaucer course

Sub-series consists of records relating to Johnston's teaching of the course on Chaucer, 1959-2004, including assignment and test sheets, lecture notes, and bibliographies.

Special Events

Sub-series consists of records related to the Registrar's involvement in the hosting, planning and attendance of special events including awards dinners, receptions, and celebrations. Includes speeches given by the Registrar at these events, as well as correspondence, reports, etc.

Student Files

Sub-series consists of files of individual students (Basic Degree and Advanced Degree) who attended Emmanuel College, 1928-2000. Files may include the following: transcripts of marks, student record cards (including marks), correspondence of the registrar, Principal and faculty members (including letters of recommendation), application forms, evaluation reports, obituaries, clippings, registration forms, examination results, and financial records re loans, bursaries and other matters.

General papers

Sub-series consists of files containing predominantly correspondence, which reflects Dr. Love’s various activities as part of the Victoria University /University of Toronto community, including interaction with the administration, the English Department, the Writer-in-Residence program and the Margaret Ray and Florence Pratt Award committee.

Records related to the Board and Senate

Sub-series consists of records related to the Registrar's activities in relation to the Board of Regents and the Senate of Victoria University. The Registrar is involved in the elections of both bodies and acts as the secretary to the Senate. Records relate to the administration of elections, participation in Senate committees, annual reports and statistics summaries presented to the Board and Senate as well as correspondence.
