Records related to the Centenary

Sub-series consists of reports, correspondence and notes of the Centenary Committee and it's sub-committees. Includes class lists, registration lists, clippings, pamphlets, and other material related to the Centenary, including records related to the Pilgrimage to Cobourg that was planned as a celebration of the Centenary. The sub-series also contains an Illuminated address given to King Edward VIII by the University on the occasion of its centennial that expresses gratitude for the Royal Charter granted in 1836 and renews a declaration of loyalty to the Crown; it is signed by the Chancellor and the Board of Regents. Also consists of a letter from the Board of Regents to King George V.

Minutes and related records of the Board of Regents

Sub-series consists of the minutes and related records of the Board of Regents of Victoria University. In the earlier records, university federation is a dominant subject as well as the move from Cobourg to Toronto . Also included are the minutes of other committees, including the executive committee, and a building committee concerned with women's residences, and minutes of a special meeting concerning the University Bill.

Currently the Board of Regents meets four times a year, which includes a Strategy Day

Sub-series consists of the records of past chairmen of the Board of Regents including, A.E. Ames, Leopold Macaulay, Wilfred C. James, Dennis Lane, David Pretty and Ruth Alexander. Includes correspondence, applications, records regarding search committees, appointments and installations, property agreements, the Victoria University Act, federation, etc.

Student records

Sub-series includes records of Union Theological College and consists of register of students marks, 1913-1931; student register, 1920-1929; record of probationers, [192-]; student examination records, 1927-1928; registration cards for the following students: Theology, 1927-1928 to 1929-1930, 1931-1932 to 1965-1966, 1967-1968 to 1970-1971; occasional/special 1928-1929 to 1968-1969 (incomplete); medical/missionary, 1928-1929 to 1931-1932; postgraduate, 1928-1929; Bachelor of Divinity graduate course, 1940-1941 to 1947-1948; Bachelor of Religious Education, 1954-1955 to 1965-1966, 1967-1968 to 1968-1969; Graduate Studies student cards 1951-1963; registration cards of Theology students; and student examination records from Knox College, 1922-1927.

Student registration cards include: name, address, course, home address, Presbytery, Conference, year of study, church attended in Toronto, courses taken (no marks), degree.

Student files

Sub-series consists of files of individual students who attended Emmanuel College, 1928-1991, and who are deceased as of 2003; and Basic Degree and Advanced Degree graduates, who attended 1928 - 2000. Files may include the following: transcripts of marks, student record cards (including marks), correspondence of the registrar, Principal and faculty members (including letters of recommendation), application forms, evaluation reports, obituaries, clippings, registration forms, examination results, and financial records re loans, bursaries and other matters.

General subject/correspondence files

Sub-series consists of files relating to a variety of subjects/correspondents such as studies/surveys, scholarships/awards, installations (Principal's), grants/funding, lectures, senior administrators, Victoria University committees and reunion dinners as well as subject files on academic courses, enrollment programming and departments.

Administration and General Files

Sub-series consists of ongoing subject and correspondence files for the activities and responsibilities of the Registrar's Office, including provision of services, creation of policies and procedures, office administration, participation in associations and discussions with University of Toronto Faculty of Arts and Science, campus, office and program planning, attendance at conferences and meetings, financial activities, and program reviews.

Records include reports, correspondence, planning documents, statistics, mail-outs, correspondence, forms, etc.

Sub-series also contains correspondence with the Department of Veteran Affairs about students who served in WWII.

Records related to Admissions, Enrolment and Graduation

Sub-series consists of records related to admissions, enrollment, student registration, and graduation. Includes recruitment of students, petitions from students, complaints and discipline issues, applications to graduate, etc. Records cover planning, administration, statistical analysis, and interactions with students.

Records related to the Board and Senate

Sub-series consists of records related to the Registrar's activities in relation to the Board of Regents and the Senate of Victoria University. The Registrar is involved in the elections of both bodies and acts as the secretary to the Senate. Records relate to the administration of elections, participation in Senate committees, annual reports and statistics summaries presented to the Board and Senate as well as correspondence.

Fellows of Victoria College

Fellows of Victoria College were appointed from the larger U. of T. community to expand the academic and cultural life of the College. They participated in ways both formal (e.g. public lectures) and informal (e.g. presence in Senior Common Room), and received an honorarium, High Table privileges and office space on campus. Junior Fellows were senior graduate students who provided course and career counseling as well as some tutoring to Vic students.

Sub-series consists of files on the nomination, appointment and remuneration of Fellows; changes in the appointment of Fellows after 1982; and a single file on the selection of Junior Fellows.

General papers

Sub-series consists of files containing predominantly correspondence, which reflects Dr. Love’s various activities as part of the Victoria University /University of Toronto community, including interaction with the administration, the English Department, the Writer-in-Residence program and the Margaret Ray and Florence Pratt Award committee.

Sub-series consists of records relating to Johnston's teaching of graduate courses, 1976-2005, including course syllabi, handouts, lecture notes, and bibliographies.
