Endowment Fund

Sub-series consists of documents relating to the Donovan Art Collection Endowment Fund. Documents include receipts of financial donations to the fund, the account's closing and opening balances, as well as correspondences between Father Donovan and St. Michael's College accounting teams.

Donovan Art Collection Account

Sub-series consists of documents relating to the Donovan Art Collection financial account. Documents include invoices and receipts regarding financial donations, art purchases, and other expenses of the Donovan Art Collection, as well as the account's closing and opening balances. Additionally, the sub-series also includes related correspondences between Father Donovan and the collection accounting team.

Visitor Lists

Sub-series consists of Father Donovan's handwritten lists recording the names and dates of various visitors to the Donovan Art Collection. One of the files also includes a list of artist names whose works appears in the collection.

Artwork Lists

Sub-series consists of inventory lists of the Donovan Art Collection, which also include the locations of artwork on the St. Michael's College campus.

RCMP files

In 2013, a researcher studying the Voice of Women requested the RCMP files of many of the women involved in the group, including Dr. Franklin. Redacted copies of the files were supplied by Library and Archives Canada and subsequently shared with Dr. Franklin. Subseries consists of 5 PDF files (577 pages) documenting the extensive file the RCMP kept on Dr. Franklin from 1949-1984. It is presumed that more recent records were withheld for privacy reasons.

Student Files

Sub-series consists of files of individual students (Basic Degree and Advanced Degree) who attended Emmanuel College, 1928-2000. Files may include the following: transcripts of marks, student record cards (including marks), correspondence of the registrar, Principal and faculty members (including letters of recommendation), application forms, evaluation reports, obituaries, clippings, registration forms, examination results, and financial records re loans, bursaries and other matters.

New Music Festival

Subseries consists of events that were part of the University of Toronto New Music Festival (UTNMF), an international festival of contemporary music presented annually by the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. The festival was coordinated by Norbert Palej.

Publications

The series documents Dr. Roots’ publishing activities in academic journals. The material in this series includes prints, notes, correspondence, drafts, figures and proofs. A large section of this series is dedicated to the drafts, proofs, and additional material related to the publication of her nerve membrane book “Nerve membranes. A study of the biological and chemical aspects of
neuron-glia relationships”. There is also a large section of material related to Roots’ Royal Canadian Institute book “Special Places: The Changing Ecosystems of the Toronto Region”.

Other radio and television plays

Subseries consists of scripts, scores, and parts for incidental music by Phil Nimmons for various radio and television programs.

Subseries consists of various brochures, syllabi, and histories of the Opera School, later renamed the Opera Department and now known as the Opera Division. Items include the constitution and by-laws of the Royal Conservatory Faculty Association (1971); Royal Conservatory of Music and Faculty of Music Summer School syllabus (1958, 1971, 1974); Royal Conservatory of Music Year Book (1963-1964); Royal Conservatory of Music Senior School syllabus (1948-1949); histories and overviews of the Opera School (1947, 1971); Directory of Opera Companies and Workshops in the United States and Canada (1971); The Bulletin from the Royal Conservatory of Music (1965).

Photographs

Subseries consists of photographs and contact sheets of most major Opera School productions between 1946 and 2016; headshots of performers and administrators (Kathryn Knapp, John Beckwith, Ettore Mazzoleni, Tyrsa Gawrachynsky, Jacqui Lynn Fidlar, Tania Perrish, Eve-Rachel McLeod, Herman Geiger-Torel, Virginia Lippert, Marion Parsons, Ernesto Barbini, Ermanno Mauro, Alpar the fencing master); and photographs from various Opera School events, including the Opera Department's 25th anniversary, the commemoration of the Herman Geiger-Torel room, and Lofti Mansouri's visit. Records related to the Centenary

Sub-series consists of reports, correspondence and notes of the Centenary Committee and it's sub-committees. Includes class lists, registration lists, clippings, pamphlets, and other material related to the Centenary, including records related to the Pilgrimage to Cobourg that was planned as a celebration of the Centenary. The sub-series also contains an Illuminated address given to King Edward VIII by the University on the occasion of its centennial that expresses gratitude for the Royal Charter granted in 1836 and renews a declaration of loyalty to the Crown; it is signed by the Chancellor and the Board of Regents. Also consists of a letter from the Board of Regents to King George V.

Sub-series consists of minutes of the first Campaign Committee, the Special Names Committee / Special Subscription Committee and joint meeting minutes of the two. Also consists of records relating to the Campaign Fund (including appeal letters by Margaret Addison. Sub-series also consists of records of the later Campaign Committee which oversaw the "Renewing the Heritage" Campaign which coincided with the Sesquicentennial Celebration in 1986.
