Subseries consists of audited and unaudited year-end financial statements for Esprit Orchestra: 1986, 1988 (including financial statements for the Esprit Orchestra Olympic Tour), 1991-1993, 1994 (draft only), 1995 (fax copy, unaudited), 1996-2008, 2009 (draft only), 2011, 2012 (draft only), 2014 (draft only), 2019 (analysis of financial statement only).

Subseries consists of material written and presented about Nouwen's life and works. This material includes newspaper articles, interviews of Nouwen, essays, and books. While some of this material was written before Nouwen's death, the majority of the material is dated after his death in 1996.

Weekly calendars

Sub-series consists of Nouwen’s weekly appointment calendars from 1975 to 1996. Most contain ephemeral material (including personal notes, reminders, invitations and miscellaneous information) which has been removed and placed in separate envelopes.

Visitor Lists

Sub-series consists of Father Donovan's handwritten lists recording the names and dates of various visitors to the Donovan Art Collection. One of the files also includes a list of artist names whose works appears in the collection.

Sub-series consists of fourteen files which deal with Nouwen's personal and professional dealings with Verlag Herder, a publishing company located in Freiburg, Germany. Much of the correspondence is between Nouwen/his assistants and Franz Johna, Editor for Verlag Herder. Theatres include: Harbourfront Premiere Dance Theatre (1986); Jane Mallett Theatre at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Performing Arts (1986-2007); Roy Thomson Hall (1989-1992); Glenn Gould Studio (1993-1996); Royal Conservatory of Music (1995, 2011); Jackman Studio, Canadian Opera Company (1996); Elgin and Wintergarten Theatre (1998-2007); MacMillan Theatre, University of Toronto (2001-2002); Walter Carsen Centre for the National Ballet (2004-2006). Subseries also includes contracts with venues that Esprit Orchestra performed at when on tour in Quebec (1985) and Western Canada (1998).

Transcripts, questionnaires, and recordings

Sub-series includes transcripts, questionnaires, and recordings from the Kurdish oral history project which Professor Hassanpour designed and led as part of his historiography of the Peasant Movement in Mukriyan Kurdistan.

Transcripts of Nouwen's talks

Subseries consists of transcriptions of Nouwen's talks received after his death. Transcriptions are of homilies, sound recordings, dedications, conference and workshop talks, convocation addresses, keynote addresses, and general talks.

Towards a living art

Subseries consists of records relating to events and concerts for Esprit Orchestra's "Towards a Living Art" (TALA) education programme. Esprit introduced TALA in 1985 and included: in-class visits; open rehearsals; free and/or subsidized concert tickets; free student concerts; workshops and student performances and artist lectures and seminars.

Touring materials

Subseries contains documents from New Music Concerts tours, including their 1976 tour of Europe and their Northern Ontario and United States tour in 1980.

Toronto New Music Alliance

Subseries consists of agendas, meeting minutes, correspondence, and other records relating to the Toronto Coalition of New Music Presenters (TCNMP) or Toronto New Music Alliance, a coalition of ensembles and performing arts organizations in Toronto dedicated to New Music. The coalition formed in 2001 following the closure of Massey Hall and the New Music Festival (NuMuFest) as a collective of 28 music ensembles, concert presenters, and other organizations dedicated to the creation and proliferation of new music in Toronto. Groups include New Music Concerts, Soundstreams Canada, soundaXis, Music Gallery, Esprit Orchestra, MusicWorks, Toca Loca, Les Amis, CONTACT Contemporary Music, the Canadian Music Centre, Arraymusic, the Ambient Ping, Continuum, Earshot! Concerts, Hannaford Street Silver Band, New Adventure in Sound Art, and others.
