There is also a film reel of Jean Vanier.

Collection has been arranged into eight series:

  2. Covenant retreats
  3. Faith and Sharing

Alain [St. Macary] and Sr. Sue Mosteller, "La relation entre les conseils d'administration et les communautes" and "Relationship between boards of directors and communities" [Alain in French, Mosteller in English]

Item consists of 1 audio cassettes from the 1982 International Federation of l'Arche meeting in South Bend, IN.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: Alain speaks in French first. Then Sue in English. I like clarity and to see things clearly in boxes so we can see them. I want to be able to tell each group here exactly what your role is. Then we wont have any confusion and get along just fine! The need to work together is the first priority. The community leader is the link between the community and its Board.

Alain [St. Macary] and Sr. Sue Mosteller, "Perspective and growth" part 1 [Alain in French, Mosteller in English]

Item consists of 1 audio cassettes from the 1982 International Federation of l'Arche meeting in South Bend, IN.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: Sue speaks in English first, followed by Alain in French. The International Council has done a lot of work together these past months on the growth of our Federation. I want each member to introduce themselves and their regions today so that we can carry the Federation together.

Alain [St. Macary] and Sr. Sue Mosteller, "Perspective and growth" part 2 [Alain in French, Mosteller in English]

Item consists of 1 audio cassettes from the 1982 International Federation of l'Arche meeting in South Bend, IN.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: We will have more time tomorrow for questions and reflections from the floor. The choice for us is do we stay with what we have , which is possible, and work with that to find a better solution than the zones. Or do we move towards the zones? We really need to find the wisdom about how to go forward.

Sue Mosteller and Brian Halferty, "Stages of Growth" #1

Item consists of 1 audio cassette featuring a talk given at a l'Arche Renewal retreat in Spokane, WA, in 1983.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: The first two weeks of the Renewal were designed for us to get in touch with a lot of things, Now we are moving forward, which will help us see directions for the future. More time will be given which we will have to choose how to use. We have to chose the time to reflect! The groups are for sharing. Really listen to one another. This morning I am going to speak on human growth, We came here because we want to grow, but we often resist growth.

Sue Mosteller and Brian Halferty, "Stages of Growth" #2

Item consists of 1 audio cassette featuring a talk given at a l'Arche Renewal retreat in Spokane, WA, in 1983.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: Who can challenge me and call me to the "more?" when I get upset with others? Do I give others the permission to question me? Often I don't give that permission because I'm scared. I don't submit my story to anyone who doesn't think like I do. Who helps me stay in the truth and calls me to the "more"?

Labour Day Weekend

File consists of 2 audio cassettes featuring talks given by Joe Egan, Ken Gavin, and Sr. Sue Mosteller to assistants at l'Arche Daybreak over Labour Day Weekend in September 1983.

Regional Meeting 1983

File consists of 7 audio cassettes featuring recordings of talks given by Jean Vanier and Sue Mosteller at the Regional Meeting in Waterloo, ON, in May 1983.

Sue Mosteller and Brian Halferty, "Stages of Growth" #3

Item consists of 1 audio cassette featuring a talk given at a l'Arche Renewal retreat in Spokane, WA, in 1983.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: I feel a bit overwhelmed sitting here with Sue. If I am able to say something today, it's things from my own experience. I will share a few reflections and then Sue will speak too. Telling stories and remembering is really important in families, in L'Arche, etc. It can be hard to share some stories because there can be a lot of emotion at times. Yet it is amazing how much impact we have on one another.

Material by Sr. Sue Mosteller

File consists of an address given by Sr. Sue Mosteller at the French Renewal in the Summer of 1985 titled "Personal Accompaniment", containing brief handwritten notes by Nouwen on the back page, and a handout titled "Accompaniment of New Assistants".

Sue Mosteller, "Choosing to Grow"

Item consists of 1 audio cassette featuring a talk given at a l'Arche Renewal retreat in Scotland in 1986.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: I hope you did your homework. We will continue now from yesterday. First of all, that we recognize the brokenness, feelings and tensions where I want to grow but I don't think I can because something is holding me back. If I grow somebody close to me may be left behind or we can feel we have been thrust out and abandoned. Is there anyone who really loves me as unique? We all long for that happy tension where I know I am loved the way I am and to know I have the capacity to take responsibility for others.

Sue Mosteller, "Call to Grow?"

Item consists of 1 audio cassette featuring a talk given at a l'Arche Renewal retreat in Scotland in 1986.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: I have been asked to speak about the call to grow today. I want to start with the question: "Do you know how important your life is?" "Can you believe that you can grow and change?" Based on that we can move into some things which will help us to know ourselves a bit better, to understand ourselves. And hopefully push us like a motor to become more.

Sue Mosteller, "From Disillusionment to Peace"

Item consists of 1 audio cassette featuring a talk given at a l'Arche Renewal retreat in Scotland in 1986.

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: Today we are going to try to attempt something different. During the last two days we tried to deepen things we know to be true and to put words around our experience. I wonder now if it would be possible for us to try to listen more from our hearts? Maybe to process and deepen not so much from our intelligence but from our hearts. So you may not want to take notes today. It's much more an entering in to that place where we discover what is true at the level of our hearts.
