In L�Arche we can be sure that God speaks to us through the poor. I want today to intro duce you to Tracy, a young woman who lives at Daybreak. She has an incredible personality!

Content notes (or transcription) from beginning of the recording: In the formula we have developed in L�Arche we say, �You are invited to live a covenant of love in L�Arche with Jesus and with all your brother and sisters, especially the poorest and weakest. Do you want this?� We are invited to live a covenant of love and communion. I want through the days of the retreat to point to the person of Jesus so we could ask ourselves the question, �Who are you?�

The question we want to carry in this retreat and in our hearts is, �Who are you, Jesus?� There is going to be a bond between us. There us a relationship that is going to have an impact on my life. Something new is going to happen in this relationship.

It�s true that there is a word given but that word id much more than just a word. Maybe that�s why Jesus is the Word of life. The Word is Jesus., which we will look at this afternoon.

I live at Daybreak with Henri Nouwen who has written a book on the prodigal son and we have talked about it a lot. So many of my ideas are not my own. Today is the day of reconciliation and once we go there we will run into our great resistance to change. Reconciliation is a change of heart.

We want to come home to that truth and stay under the blessing of the Father who loves us. Today there is another side of love. As the beloved we rest in God, b ut we do push on from there. Love is not just receiving, I I am the beloved, it means I have enormous power to love others.

I want to be able to tell each group here exactly what your role is. Then we won�t have any confusion and get along just fine! The need to work together is the first priority. The community leader is the link between the community and its Board.

There is a story in the Old testament which I think might help us speak about this reality we live. It is the story of the people of God who found themselves in slavery in Egypt.

Many people come and go at L'Arche, but when here we are all just "peaking" out from our hearts hoping someone will recognize me as I am and tell me I am ok.

All of us have been touched by the struggles in our families. We often don't know what to do. The struggle exists in our communities too. All the problems "out there" are in our communities too: authority, relationships, breakages, communication, questions of morality, religion etc. L'Arche is often a mess, so we live the reality of our world..
