File consists of correspondence from Doreen Cullen, regarding Nouwen's involvement in developing a conference for parish volunteers, for the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto. The letter requests time to sit with Nouwen and discuss ideas. A letter of response from Nouwen's secretary states that Nouwen was unable to respond to this request because he was out of the country.

Includes letters from both Barb and Bonny expressing their desire to visit Daybreak and a copy of Nouwen's response offering them an opportunity to spend time in the community. Also includes a thank you note from Bonny.

Annual National Prayer Breakfast, Ottawa - March 21, 1991

File consists of correspondence and other material, mainly with Jim Edwards, M.P. and Bill Bussiere, regarding Nouwen's participation in the National Prayer Breakfast in Ottawa, Ontario. Nouwen gave the address for the breakfast on the theme "Beloved." Includes invitations, programs, music, travel itinerary, travel costs, a transcript of the event including Nouwen's address, and notes in Nouwen's hand for the address. Correspondence regarding arrangements for the event and thank-you letters from many people are included with a copy of Nouwen's response. A videotape of the event and a photograph of Nouwen with Brian Mulrooney were sent to Nouwen with a letter from Jim Edwards but are not in the file. Also includes a signed program by Brian Mulrooney. Some of the materials are in French.

Merton society and legacy

File consists of correspondence and administrative and promotional material related to the Thomas Merton Center in Louisville, Kentucky used by Sue Mosteller while planning for the development of the Henri Nouwen Literary Centre and Henri Nouwen Society. Included in the file are requests and objectives submitted to the Board of Directors of L’Arche Daybreak; correspondence, notes and Thomas Merton reference material generated from discussions between Sue Mosteller and Thomasine (Tommie) O'Callaghan about the history and evolution of the Thomas Merton Society; the minutes from an Advisory Group Meeting held July 11-July 13, 1997; promotional material regarding the opening and dedication of the Thomas Merton Center at Bellarmine College on October 10, 1997; correspondence from Anne McCormick at Alfred A. Knopf; a copy of an update from Mosteller to members of the Nouwen Society Board; correspondence with Dr. Theresa Sandok regarding the date of Nouwen met with Thomas Merton (May 7, 1967); and a letter acknowledging Mosteller’s enrollment with the International Thomas Merton Society. Also in the file are copies of the Winter 1996 edition of The Merton Seasonal: A Quarterly Review; the Spring 2000 edition of Contemplation & Action: Newsletter of the Thomas Merton Center Foundation; a list of archival series held by the Merton Corpus & Bellarmine Merton Collection; copies of a Merton Legacy Trust agreement with Doubleday & Co.; memorial cards for Nouwen; photocopied excerpts from Jurjen Beumer’s Henri Nouwen: A Restless Seeking for God and Nouwen’s Thomas Merton: Contemplative Critic; and copies of The Lord is Near: Advent Meditations From the Work of Henri Nouwen and Returning God’s Love Calls us Home: Reflections for the Days of Lent.

Second file folder consists of a fax from Sister Thérèse Meunier to Sue Mosteller regarding L’Arche communities in Central America. Included is correspondence between Meunier and other L’Arche community contacts and a document titled “Possible long range plan for working as a resource in Central America”.

Interview with Richard White

File consists of an interview with Richard White interviewed by Joe Vorstermans (location unknown). White is a historian living in Fishing Creek, MD; he was a friend of Nouwen's. The is a note in the file from Joe Vorstermans regarding the failed attempts to receive a Deed of Gift from White. The interview is not transcribed and is only available on audio cassette.

File consists of one letter from Nouwen to Fr. Joy-Prakash. Letter was written from L'Arche Daybreak in 1992. Fr. Joy-Prakash kept this letter due to his deep appreciation for Nouwen's work.

Lecture at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth Ireland and visit to Holland - February 28 - March 7, 1991

File consists of correspondence and other material regarding Nouwen's lecture at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, Kildare, Ireland. The title of Nouwen's lecture was " From Communion to Community and Ministry." Proceeds of the event went to the Trocaire Lenten Campaign. Includes material about the Trocaire campaign including a brochure, poster, sticker, and box. Also includes a copy of the march 1991 issue of the "The Furrow," a journal for the Contemporary Church. The travel itinerary indicates Nouwen also went to Holland during this trip. There is nothing in the file about Holland, he probably went for a personal visit.

Regis College 1991 Lecture Series - February 27, 1991

File consists of correspondence, with Mary McCann, and other material regarding Nouwen speaking at the Regis College 1991 Lecture Series, Regis College, Toronto, Ontario. The theme of Nouwen's talk was "From Communion to Community: The Contemplative Journey." Includes brochures and tickets for the lecture series and brochures for other Regis College events.

Spring Garden Baptist Church - February 24, 1991

Sipe's article entitled "Memento Mori: Memento Vivere- in the Rule of St. Benedict" is included in the file, however, the letter from Sipe is not.
