This series contains material relating to Prof. Olson’s research activities. It includes experiment notes and notes relating to various Olson publications and topics. Research notes have been arranged chronologically.

Fonds consists mainly of administrative records of the Trinity College Literary Institute, including the Debates and Conversazione Committees. These records show the wide variety of activities in which the Trinity College Literary Institute has traditionally been involved and the large part played by “The Lit” in the life of the College. Annual social events included TCLI dinners with some well-known speakers, as well as the annual formal dance, the Conversazione which began in 1871. Elaborate programs, posters and graphic works were produced to promote and advertise these and other events.

This fonds consists of textual material and artefacts including correspondence, a draft of William Kirby Rolph’s doctoral thesis, and drafts of articles. The fonds also contains newspaper clippings, certificates, pins and medals, and photographs relating to W.K. Rolph’s life and Ruth Bell’s academic career.

Fonds also includes letters received by Mrs. Seeley after her husband’s death, newspaper clippings and obituaries, official documents, photographs, and a printing plate.

The fonds deals with records relating to St Hilda's College from its founding until 2004. Most of them are from the office of the head of St Hilda's College (whose title changed over the years from Lady Principal to Principal and Dean of Women to Dean of Women and Dean of St Hilda's. Records include correspondence, student records, committee minutes, reports and statistics, photographs, policies, budgets and other administrative records. Note that there are no documents for the period 1953-1978 when Katharine Darroch was in office.

Fonds consists of extensive correspondence from Dr Walters to his parents, his brother and sister from 1925 to 1945, when he wrote home every few days. They cover student life at Queen's University and more extensively at Trinity College, his working experiences on a Great Lakes steamer, his early married life, his experiences during the Second World War and his career as a doctor.

The Earle Grey Players Collection consists of programmes and brochures for the annual Shakespeare Festival held at Trinity College, historical information on the founding and development of the Shakespeare Festival, and ephemera related to the Festival, including a bronze plaque commemorating the location of a mulberry tree grown from a tree in Shakespeare’s birthplace Stratford-on-Avon.

This fonds consists of records about the life and career of Clifton Gardner as an Anglican priest in England and Canada as well as his time as Chaplain in the Royal Navy. The fonds includes some published and unpublished works authored by Gardner, his sermon notebooks, and a diary.

The fonds is largely a collection of correspondence between various members of the Clarkson family, spanning most of their lives from 1904 to about 1963. A substantial amount of the material focuses on their travels and the primary recipient is Alice Baines Clarkson. The fonds also contains family and Trinity related photographs, diaries, records from the Women’s Musical club, and other memorabilia.

The collection consists of material related to Young’s academic interest in the Anglican Church in Canada and its related people, records related to Young’s time as an administrator of Trinity College, and some material from his personal life. The fonds contains original and copied research material accumulated by Young from various sources, written by John Strachan, his family and contemporaries. Other research interests included Bishop Mountain, the Stewart family, and Trinity College. Published and unpublished manuscripts, Young’s correspondence relating to the administration of Trinity College, and personal artefacts and photographs, are included.

Personal records of Derek York, professor emeritus of physics at the University of Toronto. Included are mass spectrometer log books and the world's first mass spectrometer manual; laser manual for the earliest commercially available high-powered laser; instruction manuals, laboratory notes, argon geochronology laboratory reports; Pat Smith's lab books; sample maps, photographs, offprints and articles; contracts and contract reports; research binder on birds; other research binders, including some with Pat Smith and also some of the latter's lab books; press clippings about Professor York; floppy discs.

This fonds consists of one accession containing the personal records of Margaret Allemang, Muriel Ward, Jean Wilson, Patricia S.B. Stanojevic, Catherine McNaughton, Ethel Irwin, Mary Potts, Muriel Uprichard and Delta and Irene Mick. These records were donated to the Margaret M. Allemang Centre for the History of Nursing Archives by the women themselves or their family members. The records cover a variety of topics relating to the history of nursing such as their own involvement as staff members in the School of Nursing at the University of Toronto, the development of nursing curricula, nurses involvement in World War II, and the study of cardiac patients. The fonds includes correspondence, photographs, research data, oral history interviews, audiocassettes, nurse’s pins and published manuscripts.

Series consists of letters to J. Churchill Arlidge concerning his performances; family correspondence; Arlidge's wedding certificate; and a jewel pendant that belonged to his mother.

Accession consists of correspondence, certificates and photographs relating to honours bestowed on Professor C. B. Macpherson, most of which relate to the accompanying C. B. Macpherson Memorial Quilt, designed and made for him in 1989 by Ellen Adams from six of his academic hoods. Also includes two photographs of Macpherson receiving the Order of Canada from Governor General Jules Léger at Rideau Hall in 1977.

Throughout his teaching career at the University of Toronto, Prof. Rayside has been an advocate on gay, lesbian and feminist issues. His university advocacy activities are numerous. Between 1985 and 1987, he served on the Ad Hoc Committee on the Status of Women, University of Toronto. Prof. Rayside was also a Member of the Sexual Harassment Hearing Panel, University of Toronto, 1988-1992. In this capacity, he heard the first case under the new Sexual Harassment Policy, Torfason vs. Hummel. He was a founding member and coordinator of the Committee on Homophobia from 1989-1991 and remained a member until 1994. In addition, between 1989 and 1994, Prof. Rayside was a member of the Men’s Forum. He also served on the Teach-In Committee and was responsible for organising a university-wide teach-in on sexism and violence against women in 1990. Prof. Rayside also participated on the Ad hoc crisis team to handle the case of a U. of T. residence student with AIDS, 1991-1992, and helped prepare a discussion of report on university AIDS policy. He also assisted in the organisation of the “Queer Sites: Studies in Lesbian and Gay Culture” Conference in 1993.

Records in this series document Prof. Rayside’s advocacy activities and leadership on equity issues relating to gender and sexual orientation. Types of records include: correspondence, reports, briefs, notes, meeting minutes, programmes, and conference posters.

Committees documented in B1998-0029 are: Ad Hoc Committee on the Status of Women; Ad hoc crisis team to handle the case of a U. of T. residence student with AIDS; Men’s Forum, Queer Sites Conference Organising Committee; Sexual Harassment Hearing Panel; and Teach-In Committee.

Groups or committees documented in B2008-0023 include: Committee on Homophobia, Men’s Forum, Positive Space Campaign, Lesbian and Gay Academic Society, Toronto Centre for Gay and Lesbian Studies, Working Group on Policy Issues (response to homelessness) and the Equity Committee for the Canadian Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences. Other files generally document Rayside’s involvement on issues of pay equity, diversity, human rights as well a gay and lesbian rights. There are two files that document the Bent on Change conferences in 2000 and 2002 of which Rayside was a key organizer. Finally, filed separately because of restrictions are two files documenting Rayside’s legal challenges against councillor Betty Disero over election funding.

There are also select files related to court cases and affidavits Prof. Rayside was involved in, or wrote, and files related to activism carried out within the University of Toronto, as well as his work related to gender issues, including the Hummel case. Files are arranged alphabetically by name of the group, organization, or person they pertain to, and in rare cases, the name of the issue they concern, if no group, organization, or person name is available. This series also contains one file of photographs and one file of artifacts.

Fonds consists of the records of Dr. Fraser Mustard, documenting his long and varied career in health, medicine and education, and his work building interdisciplinary, cross-university institutions for research and advocacy. The contents of the fonds primarily document the last 20-30 years of Dr. Mustard’s career, although there is some coverage of his early research and teaching career in medicine. The fonds provides a significant record of the work of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIAR) and Founders’ Network, as well as the Early Years Report, Council for Early Childhood Development (CECD), Aga Khan University and Dr. Mustard’s work in Australia.

Records include correspondence, day planners and itineraries, travel files, meeting notes, presentation slides, news clippings, reports, minutes, outreach material, photographs and other records documenting Dr. Mustard’s speeches, awards and honours, writing, travel, and support for various government initiatives, businesses, academic institutions and community organizations. Evident throughout is Dr. Mustard’s innovative approach to pedagogy and organizational structures, his persistent advocacy, and his insistence that governments and communities adopt strategies to early childhood education that are grounded in sound research.

The fonds also documents some aspects of Dr. Mustard’s personal life, including some family correspondence and records relating to personal events, such as his 75th birthday, the publication of his biography, and his death.

This series contains the original film elements for several films made by Kay Armatage.
There are also files documenting this facet of her career including correspondence, film proposals, research notes, clippings, grant applications, budget reports, shot lists and scripts. Several files document her films Striptease, Storytelling and Artist on Fire, as well as Prof. Armatage’s attempt at writing and directing a film about Nell Shipman which did not go beyond development.

Photographs in this series include shots taken during the production of several of her films. There is one file documenting the filming of Storytelling which includes shots of Northrop Frye in New York City. There are also three contact sheets by Babette Mangolte taken during the making of Artist on Fire, with views of Joyce Weiland’s Toronto studio and home. The series also contains one file of printing plates used in the creation of publicity material for Prof. Armatage’s early film Jill Johnson, October 1975.

Item consists of one wooden candlestick with five wooden bells attached to the round base, given to Nouwen by Zenia Kushpeta.

This fonds documents various facets of Prof. Armatage’s career as a filmmaker, senior programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival, and a professor of Cinema Studies and Women’s Studies at the University of Toronto. The academic activity files in Series 1 give an overview of the breadth of her interests, achievements and promotions. Lecture notes and other course materials in Series 2, along with comments on student works found in Series 3, document her teaching role. These will be especially useful to researchers interested in understanding the early beginnings of both women studies and cinema studies and how these developing academic disciplines were being taught to students. Prof. Armatage’s role as a programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival is documented in her extensive notes found in notebooks where she recorded critiques of films she was screening. These are found in Series 4. The extent of her filmmaking is documented in Series 7 and contains preserved original film elements to several of Prof. Armatage’s films, along with a limited amount of related documentation on the making of these films. Unfortunately, this fonds does not contain release prints for these titles.

This fonds has only a small amount of records relating to her published academic works as well as files relating to conferences she organized and associations in which she was active. These can be found in Series 5 and Series 6.

The concert featured the following soloists: Luisa Tetrazzini (Italian coloratura soprano), Caroline Hatchard (British soprano), John McCormack (Irish tenor), and Nellie Melba (Australian soprano).
