Craig Stephenson Papers

This fourth accession of Craig Stephenson’s papers includes drafts and other materials relating to his recent works: Anteros: A Forgotten Myth (2011), Ages of Anxiety (2016), W. H. Auden’s Use of Jung’s Typology (2016), and Possession: Jung’s Comparative Anatomy (2017). It also includes materials relating to Stephenson’s teaching positions, along with talks and lectures given at conferences in recent years. It is supplemented by a small amount of personal correspondence, as well as by documents from the Philemon Foundation, and screenplay drafts on which Stephenson worked as a consultant.

This collection is largely comprised of material used by Professor H. Gordon Skilling in writing his book, Czechoslovakia's Interrupted Revolution (Princeton University Press, 1976). This collection includes the manuscripts of Rempel’s brother Johann (John) Gerhard Rempel, which have been translated by Rempel. As well as books, articles, manuscripts, diaries and other writing on the topic of Mennonites in Russia, and more widely, which was collected by Rempel for research purposes. In addition, the collection contains a large amount of Rempel’s correspondence with family, friends, scholars and researchers on the topic of Mennonite history.

The collection consists of holograph manuscripts and copies of manuscripts by Thompson, including two drafts for his projected book: a narrative account of his explorations in western America from 1784 to 1812. It also includes several sketches of mountain elevations, some of which were published in J.B. Tyrell's 1916 edition of the Narrative, and several other fragments of manuscripts by Thompson, typed transcripts of his journals, and photostats of other original Thompson material held elsewhere.

A collection of David Young's correspondence, literary manuscripts, business papers, and ephemera. Correspondence includes both business and personal matters from the late 1960s to 1995. The literary papers include multiple drafts and the galleys for his novels Incognito and Agent Provocateur, the notes and drafts for some of his most successful dramatic works, among them Fire, and Glenn, and many TV scripts. Also included are several of his adaptations of works by other authors for radio, such as Carol Shield's Swann, and Michael Ondaatje's In the Skin of a Lion and The English Patient. Drafts of works by other authors edited by Young and his own manuscripts edited by others, including Michael Ondaatje, are also included. The business papers relate to The Writer's Union of Canada, The Writers' Trust, The For/Words Foundation, Coach House Press and The Baffin Island Project. The ephemera documents the Toronto arts scene.
