Letter to Daybreak Council from Nouwen

File consists of a copy of a letter to the Daybreak Council from Nouwen (dated January 20, 1989) with a proposal to spend a few months in Europe writing. He says he has been stimulated by the Daybreak community, and he is "filled with ideas and insights that want to be expressed in a literary form. Especially the Parable of the Prodigal Son and the portrayal of that parable by Rembrandt have increasingly emerged as a way to give expression to many of the things I have lived here." He says he collected material on the parable while in Winnipeg [1988], but has been unable to really sit down and write. He would like permission to go to Europe for April and May of 1989 to write, visit with Jean Vanier, and see Cardinal Simonis. He also suggests that a long-term plan be made regarding his writing.
