Included are memos, correspondence, reports relating to the Faculty of Forestry; records documenting his membership on the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Lands and Forests; early correspondence with the Ontario Paper Company; numerous governmental reports and academic papers on the Canadian forest industry and forestry education in Canada; draft chapters of what appears to be a history of the University of Toronto Faculty of Forestry; records relating to his involvement in various associations such as the Canadian Institute of Forestry and the Ontario Professional Foresters.

Photographs include 2 photoprints of the Ontario Forestry Association, Annual Meeting and Dinner, 1958 and 1970.

Included is one file of miscellaneous correspondence and another of awards and recognitions for Sword . University related files include one on the Library Oral History Project which he administered, one on the tributes to Harold Innis, and others on recognitions for Frances Ireland, F.C. A. Jeanneret and Sidney Hermant. There is also a copy of Sword's paper entitled "Democratization of Universities, 1960-1974: some Commonwealth comparisons" and a copy of a paper given to him "The History of CUSO" [Canadian University Students Overseas]. Also included are photographs documenting Sword at various University events from 1967 to 1978, mainly photographed by Robert Lansdale. Also a photo album on the retirement party for Sarah McCausland.

Tau Sigma Phi fraternity records including constitution, minutes of meetings, manual of procedures, pledge sheets of members, and membership lists. This fraternity later became a chapter of the international Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. It ended with the establishment of the Alpha Beta Chapter.

LAUT’s primary activities centred around topics such as employment and working conditions, salary matters, strikes, the status of women, the stack access debate, and the academic status of librarians as faculty members.

LAUT interacted with The University of Toronto Faculty Association (UTFA), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the University of Toronto Staff Association (UTSA), the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT), and the Canadian Association of College and University Librarians (CACUL) over the course of its activities.
