File includes public relations, reviews, programme notes and pictures of Collier and his contemporaries, including Gordon Delamont, Duke Ellington, Bruno Gerussi, Gwendolyn MacEwen, Norman Symonds as well as members of the Collier quintet and octet. Personal and biographical

This series consists of Dr. Mastromatteo’s biographical and personal records. They document his career, personal life, and professional and personal relationships. This series also contains many files documenting studies, projects and issues that Dr. Mastromatteo included with his personal files. Record types include curriculum vitae, correspondence, photos, cards and certificates, articles, pamphlets, reports, notes, forms, minutes and projector slides.

The material is arranged into two sections. The first section contains personal records, career records, records documenting relationships, education records, and general files. The records are arranged in that order and filed chronologically within each of those sub-sections. The second section contains files on specific work projects or issues and is arranged chronologically.

Addresses

This series documents Dr. Mastromatteo’s research and advocacy in the form of addresses. The addresses in this series are mostly Dr. Mastromatteo’s but there are some addresses by others, possibly sent to him for review or reference purposes. There are also some small amounts of reference material filed with his addresses.

The addresses in this series are mainly about occupational health, with some on environmental issues and human rights issues as they relate to occupational health (for example workers’ compensation). Most addresses in this series were given at meetings of professional associations with a small number of talks given at private companies.

Records in this series include notes, manuscripts, correspondence, projector slides, reports and press clippings.

Articles, reviews, published addresses and referee comments

This series contains records documenting Prof. Russell’s extensive production of both published and unpublished works including articles, papers, reviews, informal talks and addresses. Published articles were produced primarily for scholarly journals and document his specialized knowledge on Canada’s Supreme Court, the Charter of Rights and Canadian constitution, aboriginal rights both in Canada and Australia, commentaries for national media such as the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

Talks and addresses from accession B2005-0001 include his speeches on receiving honorary degrees at University of Guelph (1998) and University of Toronto (2001) as well as invited talks to private business such as the Canadian Club, Royal Trust, Toronto Club, as well as universities and other academic institutions in Canada and abroad.

Also included are his commentaries as referee for various manuscripts submitted by other writers for publication. Files predominantly contain drafts of manuscripts, notes, and correspondence, as well as photocopies of related materials.

Photographs

This series contains photographs documenting some of Peter Russell’s activities while participating mainly in academic and professional functions. Most are informal colour snapshots taken while at academic conferences and meetings, as well as in social situations with colleagues and students. Activities documented include trips to China, his class of students for POL 299Y, CBA meeting in Yellowknife and receiving awards and honorary degrees from University of Calgary and University of Toronto. Most photographs were either taken by or with Prof. Russell’s camera or sent to him by friends and colleagues. A small album of 17 photographs compiled by Prof. Russell documents his activities primarily in the 1980s.

This accession for Alberto Manguel’s papers contains manuscripts and page proofs for some of his latest work; correspondence (including correspondence with notable literary figures such as Mavis Gallant and Doris Lessing); essays; articles; projects; material pertaining to various literary events, lectures, seminars, including his own festival, Atlantide; periodicals; research files (for Curiosity and the Five Cities tour); personal photographs; and other material related to his life and work primarily in the years between 1990 and 2015.

Amir Hassanpour fonds

Fonds consists of records documenting the professional and personal life of Prof. Hassanpour, Kurdish-Iranian Marxist scholar and Professor at UofT’s Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations. Material reflects key areas of Prof. Hassanpour’s research, most significantly Kurdish history and culture; the history of political movements, grassroots organization, and class struggle in Iran, Iraq and Turkey; and communication theory and sociolinguistics. Material includes correspondence with colleagues and scholars internationally, documentation of research with particular focus on Prof. Hassanpour’s dissertation and his Peasant Movement Project, records relating to conference presentations, interviews, and teaching, as well as his publishing activity.

Prof. Hassanpour was deeply invested in the preservation of Kurdish oral, visual, and textual documentary heritage as a response to the historical state suppression of cultural-political struggle of Kurdish people. Reflected in records throughout the fonds is Prof. Hassanpour’s work in pursuing the establishment of Kurdish Studies as a discipline, his work editing journals related to Kurdistan, and his effort in exposing and circulating books on Kurdish Studies to libraries and research institutions internationally. Prof. Hassanpour also actively collected and preserved Kurdish texts, dailies, and visual materials. This material is included in Series 9 (Reference material) and through bibliographic and audio material held in other repositories at the University of Toronto Libraries (please see the related material note below).

Series includes material related to Prof. Hassanpour’s education and employment, and additional biographical material. Records documenting Prof. Hassanpour’s education cover his studies in Iran and the U.S.A., as well as his involvement with the Confederation of Iranian Student in the U.S.A. and the Kurdish Student Organization in Europe and the U.S.A. Career and employment records include letters of application, contracts, and correspondence documenting Prof. Hassanpour’s positions and organizational membership. Files related to his employment at the University of Windsor document multiple contracts as well as covering a human rights dispute between Prof. Hassanpour and the department. Included are also syllabi, course evaluations, correspondence and course descriptions that cover Prof. Hassanpur’s teaching, particularly related to his work at the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations, University of Toronto.
