This accession consists of the professional records of David M. Nowlan and documents his career as an economist, professor and administrator at the University of Toronto. Most of this accession pertains to Professor Nowlan’s various administrative, teaching and research activities, 1963-1998. Types of records include: professional correspondence, minutes, committee reports, consultants reports, research notes, and manuscripts. No personal or family records are contained herein.

Series 1 consists of professional correspondence broadly documenting David Nowlan’s administrative, teaching, and publishing activities. Series 2 contains records pertaining to his various University of Toronto administrative positions such as Director of the Tanzanian Project, 1968-1973, and Vice President of Research, 1981-1988. Series 3 documents Professor Nowlan’s external consulting activities, notably his work on the 1979 Commonwealth Mission to Uganda and the 1995 Central Area Transportation Study. Series 4 contains records dealing with Professor Nowlan’s various publications. Series 5 documents presentations given and conferences attended by Dr. Nowlan.
