Records in these eight accessions document mainly Ham’s work as a student, a teacher and his professional activities as an engineer. There is also correspondence and memorabilia that document his personal relationships with family members. Although some series do touch upon his administrative posts at the University of Toronto and his advisory roles on government bodies, most of Ham’s activities in this regard can be found in the official archives of that body or office.

Records document Milton Israel’s graduate studies at University of Michigan, and his publishing, teaching and research activities as Professor of South Asian Studies in the Department of History at the University of Toronto. The records relating to his graduate studies consist of research notes and some footnote drafts for his doctoral thesis “The Anglo-Indian in defense of authority, 1905-1910”.

A significant portion of the B2002-0009 accession documents his research and teaching activities relating to South Asian settlement and migration during the 1990s and includes course materials for HIST 394, a course he developed on this topic. In addition there is correspondence and reports relating to the Sikh Studies program in the Department for the Study of Religion developed at the time he was Director for the Centre for South Asian Studies.

The B2011-0004 accession contributes significantly to his research and teaching activities, including course materials and lecture notes for HIS 101, HUM 101, HIS 232, HIS 282, HIS 364 and HIS 394, relating to British colonialism, the history of India and particularly modern India, and South Asian civilization and migration. Also included are several popular lectures and seminars that Professor Israel gave over the course of his career.

Records documenting his publication activities in Series 4 focus on primarily three projects: his book In the future soil: a social history of the Indo-Canadians in Ontario (1994), his work on Encyclopedia of Canada’s Peoples (1999) while he was Chair of the Multicultural History Society of Ontario and “Safe Haven. The refugee experience of five families”, a book and exhibition produced in cooperation with the Royal Ontario Museum. Accession B2011-0004 also includes notes and correspondence regarding several published reviews and articles by Professor Israel, as well as reviews of these key publications.

An earlier accession (B1995-0052) is represented in Series 6, and includes correspondence, research material, notes and card files relating to, with drafts of, Milton Israel's book, "Communications and Power: propaganda and the press in the Indian Nationalist Struggle, 1920-1947" (1994).

Fonds consists of a scrapbook which contains newspaper clippings, congratulatory messages and letters, photographs and postcards related to his Rhodes Scholarship and his time at Oxford. James Carscallen's thesis from Oxford is also included along with manuscripts and notes for other works.

Fonds also contains a collection of playbills and concert bills for various performances in Toronto and overseas, as well as notices for Victoria College events including performances of the Ichthyology Ensemble, for which James Carscallen played the piano, as well as the Victoria's Winter Musical Interlude.

James Carscallen was a member of the Graduate English Renaissance Group, and the fonds contains notices for several of this group's events. There is a also a file related to an event held at Victoria College called An Evening of Romanticism in Literature, Music and Art, which contains a thank you note from Northrop Frye. Fonds consists of the personal records of S. D. Clark, the first chair of Sociology at the University of Toronto, and selected personal records of his friend and colleague, Professor Oswald Hall, that Professor Clark had retained.

Consists of 6 accessions which include correspondence, notes, notebooks, sketchbooks, sketches, designs for stage sets, costume designs, photoprints and photonegatives, scrapbooks documenting the artistic lives of Frederick Coates and his wife, Louise Brown. The photographs include images of Frederick's family, his military service in World War I, dance, and his work in the reconstruction of the faces of maimed soldiers, his studio and their house, and models of buildings. Also includes Guest Book for "Sherwood House", with invitations to dramatic productions held therein; three letters between members of the Hoitt family (1867, 1885). Also included are water colours of costume designs, 5 Art Deco works of art, consisting of Coates' three stage sets for 'Danse Fronds' (ca. 1929), 'Fashions' (ca. 1928), and 'The Storm Centre' (1927); a theatre design featuring a clown; and a still life entitled 'The Blue Plate' (1922). Artifacts include medals, printing blocks, pottery, 20 modelling tools and a sculpture documenting their careers and artistic work.

This fonds consists of the personal records of Karl Ferdinand Maria Helleiner, Professor of Political Economy at the University of Toronto (1942-1973), consisting of publications and manuscripts, addresses, research and lecture notes, examinations, and correspondence. The records are organized in 7 series documenting his career as city archivist of St. Pölten, Austria (1927-1938) and as a professor for over thirty years in the Department of Political Economy at the U of T, where he specialized in European economic history. Many of the records relate to his activities as a historian researching and writing various lectures and addresses, his major books "The Imperial Loans: A Study in Financial and Diplomatic History" and "Free Trade and Frustration: Anglo-Austrian Negotiations 1860-70", as well as the numerous articles and book reviews he published in peer-reviewed journals over the span of his career.

Records of the Fraser family, principally William Henry Fraser, Professor of Italian and Spanish, and his wife, Helene and two of their children, Donald Thomas and Frieda Helen, both professors in the School of Hygiene. Fonds also contains the records of Frieda Fraser's lifetime companion, Edith (Bud) Bickerton Williams, a veterinarian, including extensive correspondence between Frieda and Bud that documents their personal lives as a same-sex couple, as well as their professional lives as women in medicine in the early 20th century. The correspondence has been noted for its significance both in terms of both Canadian lesbian history and the history of medicine. [1]

Fonds consists mainly of correspondence regarding the editing and production of the 3rd revision and enlarged edition of Halkett and Laing’s A Dictionary of Anonymous and Pseudonymous Publications in the English Language, 1475-1640 (Harlow, England: Longman, 1980), edited by John Horden. Neill was a member of the editorial committee for the 3rd revision, headed by Horden, the director of the Institute of Bibliography and Textual Criticism at the University of Leeds. Commonly referred to as “Halkett and Laing” after its original authors, Samuel Halkett (1814-71) and John Laing (1809-80), the dictionary was first published in four volumes between 1882 and 1888. A revised edition in nine volumes, edited by J. Kennedy, W. A. Smith, and A. F. Kennedy, was published between 1926 and 1962. Only one volume of the 3rd revision was published. The Trinity College Tennis Club began as the St. Hilda's Tennis Club around 1940. Sometime later (1950-52) it became known as the Trinity Grads Tennis Club (membership dependent on being a graduate of any university). In 1962 it became the St. George Tennis Club, opening up membership to all interested players. About 1976 the name was changed again to the Trinity College Tennis Club. There were originally five courts; two were lost in 1960 when St. Hilda's expanded. In 2012, the courts were closed due to the construction of the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. In 2016, the Club was advised that Trinity College would not re-open the courts. Despite lengthy negotiations between the Club, Trinity College, and the City, the final AGM was held on September 17, 2017.

This collection consists of numerous Welch Calendars, administrative records, photographs of Welch residents and attendees of social events, and a wide array of inter-urinary memoranda (IUMs) published from 1992 to the present. Records of event planning, banter and correspondence amongst residents, and miscellaneous works of art and writing are included in the collection.

The second series, “Early Days Media, Promo Folders, B&W Photographs”, includes notes, press clippings, promotional photographs and publicity materials relating to Feniak’s work for Winnipeg Folk Festival, CBC Winnipeg, and Winnipeg Free Press.

The third series, "90 Minutes Live with Peter Gzowski / Canada After Dark", includes production notes, guest listings, research, and CBC memos relating to the production of 90 Minutes Live with Peter Gzowski and Canada After Dark on CBC. The fourth series, “That's Life Global TV”, includes press kits, promotional photographs, interview notes, and story notes relating to Feniak’s work as a host for That’s Life on Global TV.

The fifth series, "Lifetime CTV", includes video cassettes, DVD-Rs, promotional photographs, tour itineraries, production notes, interview notes, correspondence, continuity prints, and press clippings for Lifetime seasons 1 through 4 on CTV.

The ninth series, “Books autographed by interview subjects”, includes hard cover and soft cover books by authors such as Irving Layton, Dr. David Sazuki and Joan Collins. This series also contains a sketchbook by Friz Freleng, with 6 original pen drawings of Looney Toons characters, signed by the artist.

The tenth series, “Videotapes from Freelance Work”, includes video cassettes of Feniak’s work on television programs such as Today’s Parent, Lifetime, and That’s Life, as well as consumer recordings of other television events such as Live Aid and the Juno Awards 1998.

Fonds reflects William C. Graham's political career as a member of parliament, member and chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Minister of National Defence, and Leader of the Opposition. The fonds was organized by Graham and his staff into ten groupings of records according to media, topic, or the role he held at the time the records were generated, and that order has been maintained.

This accession consists of the professional records of David M. Nowlan and documents his career as an economist, professor and administrator at the University of Toronto. Most of this accession pertains to Professor Nowlan’s various administrative, teaching and research activities, 1963-1998. Types of records include: professional correspondence, minutes, committee reports, consultants reports, research notes, and manuscripts. No personal or family records are contained herein.

Series 1 consists of professional correspondence broadly documenting David Nowlan’s administrative, teaching, and publishing activities. Series 2 contains records pertaining to his various University of Toronto administrative positions such as Director of the Tanzanian Project, 1968-1973, and Vice President of Research, 1981-1988. Series 3 documents Professor Nowlan’s external consulting activities, notably his work on the 1979 Commonwealth Mission to Uganda and the 1995 Central Area Transportation Study. Series 4 contains records dealing with Professor Nowlan’s various publications. Series 5 documents presentations given and conferences attended by Dr. Nowlan.

Files assembled by Sir W.R. Meredith as a member of the Ontario Royal Commission on the University of Toronto consisting primarily of correspondence, statutes, reports on university federation and administrative memoranda.

Research material used by Paul A. Bator in the writing of "Within Reach of Everyone: A history of the University of Toronto School of Hygiene and the Connaught Laboratories, Volume I: 1927-1955." It consists of biographical data on faculty and graduates of the School of Hygiene (1955-1988), articles on the Rockefeller Foundation and public health in Canada (1942, 1945), and photocopies of material from the Rockefeller Archives Center in Tarrytown, New York (1919-1950).

Fonds consists of correspondence, manuscripts and transcripts of archival material and accumulated by Fred T. Flahiff, professor of English at the University of St. Michael's College. Includes research materials and manuscripts related to Flahiff's biography of author Sheila Watson, "Always Someone to Kill the Doves: A Life of Sheila Watson", and his role as executor of her estate and custodian of her personal papers.

These personal records consist mainly of records documenting Clara Benson’s non-professional activities such as work with the Women’s Athletic Association of the University of Toronto, the YWCA and her relationship with family members and friends. The personal correspondence in Series 2 provides the most detailed information about her relationship with family, friends and activities. Letters from her parents and siblings provide an insight into her activities and progress at the University of Toronto during her undergraduate years. A few letters, however, will be found from colleagues at the university such as Prof. A.B. Macallum, Prof. Annie Laird and others.

Unfortunately documentation relating to her academic activities is limited to some correspondence and notes found in Series 5 relating to her efforts from 1920s onwards to have the Women’s Athletic Building built. Her early education in Port Hope is documented in the school books, essays and other records in Series 4. Series 4 also contains her framed diplomas for B.A. and Ph.D. No manuscripts of her publications, including her Ph D. thesis appear to have survived. The lecture notes in Series 7 do provide some indication of the content of her courses in food chemistry, and were probably used repeatedly, year after year.

Dr. Benson also recorded her travel and sightseeing activities both abroad and in Canada on film. Series 10 contains 50 rolls of 16mm film documenting her trips to Egypt (1926), England (1937 and late 1940’s and early 1950’s), South America (1939) and the United States (1939, 1948). Some of her leisure time, both while at the University of Toronto and after her retirement, was spent filming events and scenery in Toronto in general, and the University in particular, as well as her family at home in Port Hope.

Fonds consists of correspondence, subject files, articles, teaching files, research notes and other records documenting the professional life and work of Prof. Richard Simeon. This includes records relating to Prof. Simeon’s PhD thesis and early career, teaching, departmental and curriculum planning at Queen’s University and the University of Toronto, peer reviews, conference attendance, articles and books, and evaluations of student performance.

The fonds also includes significant coverage of Prof. Simeon’s research projects and advisory work, including work for the Forum of Federations, as the research coordinator for the Macdonald Report on Canada’s future, as adviser to Ontario Premiers, and as participant in the Renewal of Canada conferences. Research files cover issues of ethnicity and democratic governance, Canada-U.S. relations, and bilingualism in voluntary associations. Records also document Prof. Simeon’s work relating to constitutional development in post-apartheid South Africa.

Fonds also contains a significant number of electronic files, some transferred directly from Prof. Simeon’s computer, and some on disks. These files relate the range of activities documented throughout the paper records. Files from his computer have been organized into the same 9 series as the paper files. Disks have been kept in their own series (Series 10).

This accession holds records relating to Prof. Irving’s university education, manuscripts of some published and unpublished works, correspondence mainly relating to his professional and academic activities both before and during his years at the University of Toronto, and administrative records of the Northern Yukon Research programme during his years as director. Records relating to his work with the National Museum of Man (1964-1968), as well as artifacts, data and research materials etc. relating to the Northern Yukon Research Programme (1975-1980) are held by the Canadian Museum of Civilization Archives in Ottawa.
Other materials not contained in this accession include most of his lecture notes and other teaching materials relating to the courses he taught during his nearly 20 years at the University of Toronto. As well, there is only a sampling of his manuscripts of published and unpublished works. Records relating to his field work for both American and Canadian museums during his thirty year career will not be found here but may have survived, as noted above, with the individual institutions.

Correspondence, notes, memoranda, reports, manuscripts, articles, brochures, reviews, photoprints and maps documenting the production of the Economic Atlas of Ontario which appeared in 1969. The project was directed by Professor William Dean of the Department of Geography.

The production of the Economic Atlas of Ontario was undertaken by the Department of Geography at the University of Toronto by a group of staff and graduate students headed by Professor William Dean. The principal financial sponsors were the Ontario Department of Economics and Development and the University of Toronto through the "Varsity Fund".

Its purpose was to provide new insights into the complexity of economic activities in Ontario and their relationship to the physical and behavioural environments. When the Atlas appeared in 1969, it was immediately recognized as a superlative example of its genre, both for the information it provided and for its design. In 1970 it won the world's highest international design award, the gold medal at the International Book Fair in Leipzig. In 1973 it received the Wallace W. Atwood Prize for "the work which is of greatest significance and which has made the greatest contribution to the field of geography in the continent".

Included is an announcement of a NATO conference series of publications on ecology published by Plenum Publishing Corporation and making reference to Prof. Likens work.
