Nouwen spoke on "Solitude and Intimacy in Contemporary Society." Correspondence, from William Hulme, regarding Nouwen's lecture at Luther-Northwestern Seminaries conference "Challenge for the Ministry in the Eighties III," on October 24, 1980, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Nouwen's talk was entitled "Spirituality of Compassion," where he spoke on compassion and patience. Correspondence with, Vincent Eilers, regarding Nouwen acting as celebrant at the Serra Seminary Symposium, for St. John Vianney College Seminary and St. Paul Seminary on October 25, 1980. Nouwen spoke on "Spiritual Life in the 1980s." Includes brochures, flyers, song sheets, travel itinerary and thank you cards and letters from attendees of his talks. Also includes a news clipping on the event at the Serra Seminary Symposium and a photograph of the Colonial Church of Edina.

The theme of the conference was "Prayer and Ministry." Includes slides, from Randy Webb, of Augustana College. Also includes correspondence and a newspaper clipping from Richard Holmer, regarding Nouwen speaking at the First Lutheran Church in Genesco, Illinois. Nouwen spoke on the relation of prayer and contemplative life to ministry and outreach. Also includes a photograph of Randy Webb's two sons.

File consists of eight photographs of an unknown chapel. The first and second photographs show different angles of a room outside of the nave which has a podium and wooden chairs. The floor of this room is carpeted, and there is a wooden ceiling. The third photograph was taken above the podium in that room looking into the nave. The wooden ceiling continues, but in a darker colour, and the floor is brick inside the nave, there is a candle in the entrance way, and a cross hanging above the altar. The fourth is a closer view of the altar, hanging crucifix, and colourful flowers in front of the altar. The fifth and sixth show a view from behind the altar looking back into the room with chairs. The seventh photograph shows the light and skylight in the room, which is constructed in the same dark wood as the ceiling, but has four tiers. The last pictures shows some wild flowers outside against aged wooden siding.

P3561 - Photograph of an unknown colour painting, in the Impressionist school.
P3562 - A sunset over a lake. Back of the photograph contains the annotation, in an unknown hand, "1995. The bottom of our back garden - Port Perry Island." and "294-16."
P3563 - Unknown classroom. The floor and walls are made of brick, and the stools are fashioned out of wood. The furniture is strewn about the room, and the chalkboard is very dirty.
P3564 - Uknown altar in an unknown church. The altar is ornate and white, with two columns on each side and decorative gold designs. There are candles and flower on the altar and a white railing around the outside with two baskets of fruit rested atop. There is a silver crucifix on the altar, and a painting of Jesus hanging on the altar back. There is a small hay hut to the left of the altar and a trellis with flowers attached. The back of the photograph features an annotation in an unknown hand (in Dutch), and the printed date 'Okt 94".

P3566 - a view of a forest in fall, with some orange leaves on the trees, and blanketing the ground. It appears to be foggy.
P3567 and P3568 - A private altar, presumably inside a home. The table is covered with two tablecloths, one black with a gold design. There are two vases with flowers sitting atop the table, as well as a blue ceramic chalice and brown ceramic paten. A metal cross stands behind with a white candle. There are two icons hanging on the wall behind.

These letters contain annotations on what letters were sent to the archive. File also contains a hand-drawn map of Losone, Switzerland by Nouwen with an accompanying note explaining it. File includes photographs of the "Holding Giving" statue commissioned by Nouwen for L'Arche Daybreak sent to Parry from Nouwen and a scrapbook page with photograph clippings of Nouwen.

Album 10 consists of photographs taken in 1981 during Henri Nouwen's final year teaching at the Yale Divinity School. Nouwen is seen at various events, including what may be a farewell party, a graduation ceremony, a baptism, a visit to the country and a lobster bake, with friends and colleagues, many of whom are unidentified. Nouwen is also seen wearing clerical robes while leading Easter Sunday service, outdoors, and celebrating Mass in the Yale Divinity School Prayer Chapel. Also included are shots of Nouwen and an unidentified man while on a trip to San Francisco. Joseph Nunez, Carol Plantinga, Yushi Nomura, Bob Massie, John Mogabgab, Marjorie Thompson, Don and Elaine Postema and Mich and Mary Zeman appear in photos throughout the album.

File also includes four example sheets of calligraphy used for sub-titles and eight ink line drawings by Dr. Joel Filartiga used to illustrate Compassion.
