Also address books, 88th birthday greetings, slides and photographs, and medals. (12 boxes and medals, 1917-1997).

The material consists of the personal records of Professor Skilling and focuses primarily of Skilling’s academic work, and includes research notes and drafts of his doctoral thesis, The German-Czech National Conflict in Bohemia, 1779-1873, as well as notes and drafts supporting the revision of this thesis, which Skilling worked on for several years. There is also some correspondence with other scholars in the field of Eastern European studies, as well as publishers and editors.

The accession also contains some of Professor Skilling’s personal belongings and awards, such as medals, honorary degrees, and photographs and slides of his personal and professional life.

Fonds consist of personal documents, notebooks, correspondence, and official documents from Richard H. Steacy’s student days at Trinity College, his time as Chaplain during the First World War, and his role in the church community following the war. Files also include newspaper clippings, poems written by Steacy and others, bibles, photographs and several artefacts from the war.

File contains a program for a concert by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO), conducted by Walter Susskind at Massey Hall, Toronto featuring Alexander Brailowsky, pianist.

Series consists of correspondence, programs, certificates, and newspaper clippings pertaining to Stratton's education in vocal music. Series also contains his personal copies of his master's thesis and doctoral dissertation in philosophy.

Badges and medals awarded to Henry John Cody (1918, 1937, 1945); medals awarded to his wife, Barbara Blackstock Cody, with accompanying correspondence, certificates, press clippings.

This series contains passports, daily agendas (58 volumes) and an address book, as well as files relating to the Banff School of Fine Arts, Professor Peers’ academic life, awards that he received and books that he wrote. Also included are a class photograph of the East Coulee School where Peers taught and was principal from 1939-1942, personal correspondence, photographs of Peers with friends, travel documents and records relating to his 90th birthday and the memorial service held upon his death. The series concludes with a file of records relating to David Rayside, a U of T professor and close friend of Peers.

The “biographical information” file [/003(04)] contains, amongst many other items, several pieces that Professor Peers himself penned between 1980 and 2002 about his family and background and his years as a high school teacher. Included with this is a CD from one of his nieces, Bev Swanton, titled “Acadia Valley Homecoming 2012”, that celebrates the hamlet, the surrounding farms (including that of the Peers family) and includes the centennial parade.

This series contains records relating to Professor Peers’ activities as a professor and professor emeritus, as an alumnus, and as a very generous donor to the University of Toronto and also to Queen’s University. Included is general information about his retirement, correspondence and related material regarding the Department of Political Science. There are also extensive files of correspondence, donor agreements, endowment reports, and other material regarding scholarships and fellowships that he funded in the Department of Political Science and elsewhere, and a file on the purchase of and later transfer to the University of Toronto of his condominium at 190 St. George St.

Included are mass spectrometer log books and the world's first mass spectrometer manual; laser manual for the earliest commercially available high-powered laser; instruction manuals, laboratory notes, argon geochronology laboratory reports; Pat Smith's lab books; sample maps, photographs, offprints and articles; contracts and contract reports; research binder on birds; other research binders, including some with Pat Smith and also some of the latter's lab books; press clippings about Professor York; floppy discs.

Personal records of David Richard Olson, Professor Emeritus OISE/UT and University Professor, documenting his career as a leader in educational theory and applied psychology, and consisting of files on his education and early teaching; journals, daybooks, and notebooks; correspondence; drafts (with associated correspondence) of articles, books, addresses, and some university lectures. Also included is a position paper on the McLuhan Centre for Culture and Technology (1981), some photoprints and postcards, and certificates of honours bestowed.

Memorabilia including programmes, snapshots, group portraits, clippings documenting two graduates of the class of 1941 who later married: Shirley Hill, UC (Law) and James Warner Eakins, BASc (Civil). Of interest are a set of napkins embroidered for Shirley Hill by her mother Gladys Legge (B.A. 1914) for her graduation and several graduation snapshots of her and her classmates, all law students. There is a few documents on class reunions, 1941 programs for U.C. Follies and Skule Nite, as well as a May 1939 Presentation of Colours program.

Item is a flute, made by Henry Potter of London, with brass keys, mounted in blocks. This is a typical band flute from the period.

Item is a flute, made by Thomas Prowse in London. The flute has sterling-silver keys with salt-spoon style ends, mounted on blocks. It is a brilliant example of the large-holed flute developed by the great English flutist Charles Nicholson Jr. The historical importance of this model is that Theodore Boehm heard Nicholson playing it during a visit to England in 1831. The epoch-making Boehm flute universally used today was the result.

Item is a flute, made by Rudall, Rose, Cart and Co. in London, with sterling-silver keywork. This model has the same keys as the old eight-key flute.

Item is a flute, made by Stengel in Bayreuth, with German-silver bands and keywork. This is an ultra-conservative conical-bore model which retains the eighteenth-century fingering, and has finger holes of the small pre-Nicholson type, and a long foot-joint to B. This model was in use for a century after Boehm introduced his cylindrical-bore model, and Wagner preferred it. Such flutes were listed by the German maker Heckel as late as 1931.

The collection consists of three main items: posters, news and magazine clippings, and Radio Guide magazines. The posters are eclectic in taste, and focus on art, Indigenous rights, and advertisements. The Radio Guide material consists of supporting textual material like correspondence, reports, marketing strategies, and the magazines themselves. The news clippings come from a variety of sources.

The collection is made up of both audio/visual elements and textual. The majority of the audio visual portion of the collection is consumer tapes/disc and screening dubs of the films shown at the festival. Other files include press kits for select films. Series 7 is comprised of audio cassette recordings of festival workshops, titled “Independent Filmmaking”. The textual material offers a detailed look at how the festival operated, with application forms, tracking forms, correspondence, film promotional materials, actor resumes, expense sheets, booking venue information, workshop summaries and panelist information, grant writing, festival lists, and a wealth of other textual material. The last series is a collection of mostly festival posters.

Fonds consists of the records of the Women's Literary Society (Ladies' Literary Society) including constitutions, minutes of meetings, financial records, and song books.

Omond Solandt attended Mulvey School in Winnipeg from 1915 to November 1920, when his family moved to Toronto. He then attended Rosedale Junior Public School, transferring to Central Technical School in 1922. For his last year of high school he attended Jarvis Collegiate.

He enrolled at the University of Toronto in 1927, as an undergraduate at Victoria College. He graduated with a BA in 1931 with first class honours in biological and medical sciences. Omond

This fonds contains the personal and professional papers of Dr. Helen Sawyer Hogg documenting her contribution to professional astronomy, her high regard as a popular educator as well as her responsibilities as a parent, daughter, wife and friend. The records have been arranged into series either by type of record or to reflect a certain type of activity. Records documenting various aspects of her career are filed first, followed by papers reflecting her personal life.

Included is both professional and personal correspondence; records relating to her activities on associations, boards and organizations; records such as draft manuscripts, correspondence and outlines and data relating to her publishing activities and research; papers relating to her education and her teaching responsibilities; as well as diaries and family papers series.

Because Dr. Hogg's career spanned nearly seven decades during a time astronomy as a discipline was still developing both nationally and internationally, these records are not only useful to those researching Dr. Hogg's achievements but will be insightful to those researchers studying the development of astronomy as a science and profession. Moreover, Dr. Hogg was a woman in a field of science, which is still dominated by men. Those studying women's history may find Dr. Hogg's personal records a useful case study in one woman's success in a largely male dominated profession.

Contained within the Helen S. Hogg personal records are three sous-fonds: Frank S. Hogg [1922-1952], her first husband and also an astronomer at the David Dunlap Observatory; Prof. Ruth Northcott [1932-1969], close personal friend and professional colleague of Helen Hogg, also on staff at the D.D.O.; Dr. C.A. Chant [193- - 194-], director emeritus of the D.D.O and head of the Department of Astronomy at the University of Toronto from 1904-1935. These sous-fonds are individually described and have been filed after the Helen Hogg personal records.

Fonds consists of material documenting the professional life and work of Prof. Judith Friedland. Records focus on her education and career within academia, in particular as a professor, and former Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy. Material also covers some aspects of Prof. Friedland’s career working as an occupational therapist. Records include typescripts and presentation notes, administrative records from the Department of Occupational Therapy, teaching and course material, clinical notes, correspondence, awards, and biographical material.

The history of occupational therapy in Canada has significant coverage through records related to the research and publication of Prof. Friedland’s book, Restoring the Spirit, as well as through the collected records of Helene Primrose LeVesconte, Thelma Cardwell, and Isobel Robinson. Represented in Series 8 to 10, these three individuals each served as former heads of the UofT’s Department of Occupational Therapy, in addition to teaching and practicing occupational therapy. The collected historical material includes minutes, typescripts, correspondence, artifacts and teaching material.

The Artifacts Collection consists of artifacts related to Victoria University and the Vic community. Categories of artifacts are: athletics, pins and medals, awards, jewelry, clothing, buildings, and miscellaneous items.

This series documents only one of Davidson Black’s publications, but more of his addresses, in particular some he delivered in 1925 before his discovery of Peking Man, and the Croonian Lecture in December 1932 that cemented the acceptance of his research.

File includes certificates and medals for honours received by Edward Johnson from various countries.

Accession consists of the academic robe (doctorate) of Harold Adams Innis as well as the cap with tassel. Academic Robe is black with three dark blue velvet bands on the sleeves and velvet facing running down the front of the gown in the style of American academic gowns for doctoral degrees in philosophy. Monogram “H.A.I.” inside back collar. Black cloth academic cap with tassel size 7, with hand written label “Innis, H.A.” on inside.

Prof. Innis received his Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D) from the University of Chicago in 1920.

This accession documents Francess Halpenny’s activities as a student ; with the Women’s Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II ; with amateur theatre groups ; as editor of the University of Toronto Press and the Dictionary of Canadian Biography ; as dean of the University of Toronto Faculty of Library and Information Science ; and as member of numerous academic and professional groups. It also documents Dr. Halpenny’s involvement in promoting social sciences and humanities generally and Canadian Studies in particular ; the honours and awards received throughout her career.

Campaign buttons for Art Miki, running for Liberal in the Winnipeg-Transcona riding.

Records created and collected by Tashichi Uyeno, primarily from 1939 to the early 1950s. They were kept in two-hole clip boards, and somewhat organized based on his business needs at Richmond Trading Company. The records are telegrams, handwritten letters, ledgers, and typed communication. They cover his proceedings with banks, as since he was importing and exporting goods, he had to balance multiple currencies. He also aided his father’s oar company, and some of the ledgers track his sales and costs. Letters form his sister in Japan are interspersed and offer a look into his personal life.

There is a shift in the records as WWII continues and Japanese Canadians are sent to internment camps. Fonds also includes audio recordings of performances that Feldbrill conducted, including many premiere performances of Canadian compositions, spanning Feldbrill's entire career conducting various orchestras in Canada and abroad.
