This collection consists primarily of a long sequence of letters from Alex Colville to Helen Dow, many of which contain detailed comments on individual paintings as well as on his aesthetic and philosophical views. In addition, there is correspondence from Colville's wife, Rhoda, thanking Dow for small gifts, and from his daughter, Ann, who worked at Fischer Fine Art Ltd., in London, England, the firm handling Colville's English sales. There is also a copy of Colville's B.A. thesis.

Collection of lecture notes and miscellaneous material relating to the philosophy of Sankara, a seventh century Hindu philospher. The lectures were delivered by Miss B.S.A. de Branconiere, also identified as 'Guru Sahasrara Satchitananda,' to the student members of the Oriental Literature Society of California. She is described as "an accredited Messenger from the Sankaracharya School of Philosophy, France." The collection also contains an Esoteric Dictionary which was compiled by Mary Elizabeth Gilmore in the mid-1950s. The Dictionary contains definitions of philosophical and literary terms drawn from the lectures. It appears Gilmore gathered and arranged the lectures in their present form sometime in the mid-1930s.

The collection consists of seven diaries detailing the life John George Mudge. When the diaries open, Mudge is living in Ireland where he owns a creamery at Ballygrenane, near Listowell. By 1904, he has moved to Devon and by 1906 he is working at Oxford House in East London. In the summer of 1907, he journeys to Canada, visiting Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Vancouver. The latter years of the diaries are illustrated with numerous photographs, postcards and ephemera.

Many files include additional editorial material, such as advertising, cover art, rejected submissions and correspondence. The collection includes an office archive, which contains correspondence, financial information (with grant proposals), advertising and promotional material, and circulation and distribution records. There is a large number of original art boards and other oversized materials, such as posters. The editorial records of I Shot Mussolini by Eldon Garnet is also included along with related correspondence.

John Holden's collection of 19th and 20th century playscripts as well as Holden's production scripts for Canadian theatres, mainly in the 1950s and early 1960s, are also in the collection.

Collection of papers from Gerry Bennett (1921-1999), ornithologist and author. He wrote and published the journal Birdfinding in Canada (1981-1989) and at least three books on birdwatching and birdwatchers. The papers consist of: GB's typed journals recording his bird sightings and other observations of natural history from the 1950s to 1998; his correspondence with naturalists from the late 1970s to 1990s; his research notes and files on ornithological topics, including bird records and lists for a variety of locations, and the newsletters from a number of ornithological organizations; drafts and typescripts of some of his writings.
