A collection of bookmarks, advertisements, book fair posters newspaper clippings and more related to booksellers across North America and Europe.

Consists of papers relating to the family of William Oelschlager including correspondence from him to his family, journals of his trips to Manitoba and to Europe, drafts of his report to the Minister of Agriculture and his letter to the Mayor and Council of the town of Berlin, passports of other family members, extract from a birth certificate, autograph albums and two issues of the Daily Telegraph (Berlin) Ont. with an account of his funeral and that of his grand-daughter Martha. Explanatory notes about the Oelschlager Family by his great grand-daughter, Joyce Brown, are included.

Collection of papers of the family and descendants of William Schenck Blackstock (1824-1905) and Mary Hodge Gibbs Blackstock (1827-1909).

Collection comprises more than six thousand sheets of engravings and lithographs illustrating the characters and scenery from British and some European plays between 1810 and 1940.

Collection of approximately 110 playbills and broadsides advertising dioramas and panoramas displayed in 22 different British theatres during the nineteenth century. Includes advertisements for the Cosmorama, Eidophusicon, Cyclorama, Panorama, Diorama, and Kineorama, as well as for traditional plays and pantomimes.

This collection consists largely of diaries by Frothingham that contain notes about various business activities, the weather, the garden, arrival and departure of ships and family news. Political events are also occasionally mentioned in the diaries.

The material consists mainly of correspondence between members of the extended MacKinnon and Wrong families, back and forth between Canada and Scotland. They regularly related news and updates about the health and situation of family and friends. There are also a few pieces of correspondence for George M. Wrong.

Additionally, this accession includes poetry written by George M. Wrong’s father, Gilbert Wrong, as well as a few other documents from the family.

The fonds consists of Peter Jones’s records pertaining to his activities as a minister, author and translator, and to his personal life. Records include correspondence; autobiographical material; hymns in translation (1877); histories of the Ojibwa Indians; (notes for) sermons and other professional material; diaries (1829), journals, photographs and other personal material; miniature portraits of Peter Jones and Eliza Field (by Matilda Jones); material about Jones including leaflets and clippings; and other material including petitions from Natives (1826–1844). Materials relating to Eliza Jones (née Field) include correspondence, primarily with members of her family; personal material including notes on sermons, 20 diaries/notebooks (1823–1883) and photographs; and other material. Also included in the collection are materials relating to John Sunday, including a photograph, a clipping, the record of his ordination as a minister and a bible.

Fonds consists of records relating to three generations of the Cartwright family, their relatives, friends and colleagues. Most prominent are the papers of Mabel Cartwright, which includes correspondence with her family and relatives, diaries, notebooks and photographs.

Correspondence and other records from earlier generations of Cartwrights are included, most from Mabel Cartwright’s parents dating from the late 1860s to the early 1920s. Letters from Mabel Cartwright’s siblings, including Stephen, a missionary in Japan, are included. Financial and legal documents are included from the time Mabel Cartwright lived with her sister Winifred. The fonds also contains material accumulated and written by Hilda Fern Wood about Mabel Cartwright, and some records relating to the Wood family.

Fonds consists of 6 series that follow the chronological dates of the records and illustrate the progression of Ran Ide's professional career. Other than the first series, which covers Ran Ide's family and early years, the majority of the records focus on the professional aspects of his life. The final series consists of a finding aid compiled by the donor, John Ide, Ran Ide's son and contains anecdotes and detailed explanations of all of the records at the item level. There is also a series of writings from Ran Ide's Before and After: Recollections which he wrote for his family in 1996 and several writings of memories written by John Ide.

Legal and business papers and correspondence, chiefly relating to MacNab’s various property transactions, as well as a small amount of historical material relating to the Rebellion of 1837-1838. Also includes documents from the governing of the Estate after Allan MacNab’s death. This includes papers from MacNab’s sister-in-law and executor, Sophia Stuart MacNab, as well papers from her successors, Mary Stuart Daly and Caroline Daly. These records pertain to the maintenance of the estate, information on the mortgages owned by the estate and lawsuits.

The collection consists of personal family letters of the Elmsley and Bradshaw families, along with a family memoir (written in 1842), John Elmsley's diaries (1831 and 1851), Mary Bradshaw's letterbooks (1871 and 1877), along with family trees, documents, verses and printed matter.

A collection of Canadian ephemera. Materials include posters, poems, book prosectuses, calendars, and more, on the topics of agriculture, book selling, disarmament, education, hotels and taverns, government, publishing, regimental history, and women.

This fonds contains the personal and professional papers documenting the life and accomplishments of physicist John Satterly. Included is personal and professional correspondence, family documents, material related to Devon, England and its history; photoprints; course notes and related material such as certificates and diplomas from Satterly's days as a student; lecture notes; laboratory experiments; problem sets, examinations; textbooks; research notes; and publications which document his career as physicist at the University of Toronto.

Few administrative records of the Department of Physics from the first half of the twentieth century are available in the University Archives. As a result, this fonds provides documentation not only the life of the renowned physicist, but also of the teaching of Physics at the University of Toronto from 1912 to 1950 as well. The personal papers of other physicists already in the Archives compliment the Satterly fonds.

Collection of twelve medals dating from the late 18th century to the 1930s. It includes medals from Cenenario de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (1821-1921), Twentieth International American Congress (Rio de Janeiro, 1875-1922) and the University of Poitiers (1432-1932).

Consists of various documents, maps, letters and bound volumes acquired by Louis Melzak. The majority of the items relate to the Morris and McLean families which had been collected in a scrapbook by Edmund Morris. The letters and documents had been arranged by Morris in two groups: those of the Alexander McLean family and those of the Alexander Morris family. He included a brief outline of the history of the McLean family and an index of those documents.
The bound volumes include an early printer's pay-book, the diary of a British soldier series in Upper Canada and material relating to the settlement of the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

Original and transcribed letters from John Hale, Receiver-General of Lower Canada, and his wife, Elizabeth, between 1799-1823. The collection also contains copies of other family letters and documents giving genealogical information.

Second accession contains 56 boxes and items. The documents consist of personal and business correspondence, articles and addresses, banking and legal documents, estate information, biography information, and other items. The correspondence relates to art and the National Gallery, De Grassi Point, geology, Japanese consul, The Champlain Society, the National Battlefields Commission, the Royal Colonial Institute, the Round Table, University College Alumnae Association Building Committee. There is a significant amount of correspondence from the Canadian Bank of Commerce, the University of Toronto, and the Royal Ontario Museum, and with many prominent individuals in Canada and worldwide as well as letters to Mary before and after they married and messages of condolence received by the family after the death of Sir Edmund Walker. Other documents in the collection relate to the Alexander, Buchan, and Morrow families; the Coronation of King George V and other special events; the Duke of Sutherland's Scheme (Imperial Colonization Corporation of Canada); the West Virginia Debt Settlement; and C. White Mortimer. The items are books, a lace handkerchief, a wooden drawer containing numerous calling cards, card index of pictures and art objects, a framed drawing of the coat of arms, Sir Edmund Walker's certificates and medal upon being admitted as a Knight of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, pieces of the fireplace from Long Garth, a silver vase, a silver bowl, a china plate with Walker crest and logo, and a fishing rod and net.

Wilson at events and symposiums including the Citizen's Forum, World Trade Forum and the National Forum (broadcast on CBC), and to groups including the Rotary Club, the Canadian Club of Toronto, the Empire Club of Canada, and the Victoria College Reunion, etc. Also contains articles written by and about him, and reports on assignments that he was on.

Fonds also includes letters of condolence to his wife Ruth after Kenneth's death in 1952 and letters of condolence addressed to Floyd S. Chalmers, the Executive Vice-President of Maclean Hunter Publishing Company, who was the boss of Kenneth R. Wilson. Contains obituaries, published tributes and the tribute given at his memorial service. Also includes records related to his estate.

Fonds contains several photographs of Kenneth R. Wilson, including a formal portrait by Yousuf Karsh. There is also a short documentary film about Wilson's life and a scrapbook assembled by him that covers his early school days until his work in England on the Canadian War effort (http://pratt116.vicu.utoronto.ca/RS/?r=10061).

Fonds also contains a scrapbook assembled by Kenneth R. Wilson's daughter, Nora Ruth Wilson. This scrapbook mainly consists of images cut out of magazines and newspapers as well as articles related to the end of the war (WWII).

Fonds also contains a notebook belonging to Kenneth R. Wilson's great-grandfather, James Wilson, and a video cassette tape of a tribute to Wilson.

Collection consists of 34 promissory freight notes for merchandise and peltries shipped aboard the King’s Armed Vessels between British Garrisons on Lake Ontario, Lake Erie and Lake Huron (1778-1787). This series includes thirty holograph notes and four printed forms with holograph additions. The printed form are likely produced by William Brown, Quebec’s first printer. Collection also contains 12 manuscript documents and letters on the hardships experienced by fur traders and merchants in their attempts to conduct business in the Great Lakes region (1783-1793). These documents primarily illustrate the experiences of three prominent fur traders: Philippe-Francois de Rastel de Rocheblave, James Ellice and Toussaint Pothier.
