Menus from the United States - Georgia

File contains booklet, single sheet and trifold style menus. Menus are from Atlanta, Norcross, Buford, Cornelia, Swainsboro, Dacula, and Chamblee. Cuisines featured include Chinese, American, Italian, Japanese, Mexican and Thai. Take away menus are also included in this file.

Menus from the United States - Illinois

File contains sheet style, booklet, trifold and four fold menus. Menus are from Chicago, McHenry, Elmhurst, Winnetka, Naperville and Wheeling. Menus feature Chinese (Mandarin, Hunan, Cantonese, Peking and Szechuan), Hong Kong Style, Vietnamese, Laotian, American, Italian and Mexican cuisine. Restaurant types include bakery and cafe. A portion of the menus are take out menus.

Menus from the United States - Indiana

File contains a booklet, single sheet, four-fold and trifold menus. Menus are from Howe, Indianapolis and Lebanon. Menus feature Chinese (Hunan, Mandarin and Szechuan), American, Mongolian and Japanese cuisine.

Menus from the United States - Florida

File contains trifold and single sheet style menus. Menus are from Sarasota, Boca Raton, Anna Maria, Bradenton, Holmes Beach, Palmetto, Orlando and Jacksonville. Cuisines featured include Chinese and Italian. File also includes take out menus. Island Gourmet menu is discoloured. Menus also have grease and food stains on them.

Menus from the United States - California (M-S) (1926-1960s)

File contains booklet and trifold style menus. Menus are from Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Pedro, San Francisco, Oakland and San Bernardino. American and Chinese cuisine are featured. Several of the menus are stained or are experiencing signs of foxing. The menu from New Dragon Cafe has a hand written inscription on the cover.

File contains sheet, trifold style menus and menus to be placed on door handles. Cuisines featured in the menus include Burmese, Vietnamese, Chinese (Mandarin, Szechuan and Hunan), seafood, Italian, Hong Kong Style and Mongolian. Menus are from restaurants located in Canoga Park, San Francisco, Thousand Oaks, Ventura, Oakland, Santa Monica, Los Angeles, San Gabriel, Lake Elsinore, Davis, Napa and Camarillo.

Menus from the United States - California (U-Z)

File consists of trifold, sheet and booklet style menus. Menus are from San Francisco, Palm Springs, Davis, Santa Monica, Alhambra and Berkeley. Cuisines highlighted in the menus include Hong Kong Clay Pot cuisine, seafood, Thai, Japanese and Chinese (Cantonese, Szechuan and Yunnan). Catering, take out, dine in, lunch and dinner menus are available in the file as well.

File contains sheet, trifold and booklet style menus. Cuisines featured in the menus include American, Burmese, Chinese (Cantonese, Szechuan and Hunan), Vietnamese, Islamic and seafood. Menus originate from restaurants located in Oakland, Palo Alto, San Fansisco, Van Nuys, Richmond, San Gabriel, Woodland Hills, San Bruno, Los Angeles, Berkeley and Palm Desert.

Menus from the United States - California (D-G) (1927-1960s)

File contains booklet style menus. Menus feature Chinese cuisine including Chop Suey and Chow Mein. Menu from the Dinuba Café has the date Oct. 21, 1927 written at the top in blue ink. The menu is also stained. Evelyn’s Chow Mein Cafe is also stained and features prices written in hand in blue ink. Other menus in this file feature significant grease and food stains.

File contains sheet, trifold menus and menus to be placed on door handles. Menus feature vegetarian, Vietnamese, seafood and Chinese (Hunan, Szechuan, and Mandarin) cuisine. Menus are from restaurants located in Monterey Park, Hollywood, Canoga Park, Rowland Heights, San Gabriel, San Diego, San Francisco, Pasadena, Thousand Oaks and Daly City. File also includes a menu for Hotel Pontchartrain.

File contains sheet, trifold, card menus and menus to be placed on door handles. Menus feature Thai and Chinese (Hunan, Szechuan, Mandarin and Cantonese) cuisine. Menus are from restaurants located in San Francisco, Tiburon, Emeryville, Freemont, San Diego, Los Angeles, Millbrae and Monterey Park.

The subseries includes menus from China, (Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai), Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China), Egypt, Guam (United States), India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan (Republic of China), Tibet (Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China), Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. Menus feature Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indonesia, Italian, European, Russian, American, vegetarian and seafood cuisine.

The subseries comprises countries from the following areas: Eastern Asia, South-East Asia and Western Asia and Middle East.

Hong Kong and Tibet have been treated as separate geographical areas for retrieval purposes.

Although part of Russia is found on the Asian continent, all menus from Russia are found in the Europe subseries.

Menus from hotels, cruises and airlines are also included in this series.

The series is divided into 6 subseries: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America. The division is based on the 7-continent model, substituting Australia as a continent and replacing it with Oceania for greater geographical coverage.

Photographic Prints

Series C: Photographic Prints contains all of photograph prints that were housed in paper folders and filing cabinets in the office of Ken Jones. The folders were arranged by subject. For the most part, folders are labelled by subject but the folders and some photographs were out of order when the records were transferred to UTSC Library. In some cases, folders contain photos that do not reflect the subject of the original folder label.

Brazilian Menu collection

Collection consists of menus from various regions of Brazil. Restaurants are located in Sobra-Loja, Rio de Janeiro, Londrina, Sao Paulo, Leblon, Bahia, and Sao Lourenco. Bar fare, breakfast menus, steakhouse, hamburger house, and pan-American cuisine are just some types of dishes and restaurant represented.

A portion of the menus are from hotels. Menu types include trifold, booklet, seven-fold, placemat and bookmark style. Several menus are laminated or in vinyl enclosures. A portion of the menus have prices written in by hand in various colours of ink and are stained.
