File consists of a copy of the handwritten masters for a three-movement concerto:

  1. Lento - Allegro furioso
  2. Intermezzo and cadenza
  3. Vivace.
    "The serious mood of the opening movement is dispelled in the 5/8 intermezzo; a high spirited Vivace concludes the work. Commissioned by Canadian patron of the arts, Gordon Jeffery."

File contains correspondence regarding the recording and performances of "Music for Dancing," as well as copies of reviews, programs, and John Beckwith's draft program notes for the piece.

Music for dancing : seven pieces for piano duet

File consists of the manuscript score transparencies for the Canadian Music Centre publication (1972) and a bound, annotated copy of the 1948 manuscript. The piece was commissioned by the Community Centre, Forest Hill Village, Toronto and dedicated to Pamela [Terry]. The movements are: Prelude, First Pantomime, Waltz, Second Pantomime, Polka, Dance for Two, and Round Dance.

File also includes a copy of the orchestrated version of "Music for Dancing," created by John Beckwith in Spring 1949 and the manuscript for a revised version for smaller orchestra, created by Beckwith in 1959.
