Stacey 1st 1991 accession

Records documenting the career of C.P. Stacey in the Department of History at the University of Toronto and the Directorate of History, Department of National Defence. Includes: correspondence, reports, research files, subject files, addresses, manuscripts, publications and photographs.

Stacey 2008 accession

Consists of photographs of C. P. Stacey taken in the 1930s; scrapbook documenting the reviews of, public reaction to, and addresses delivered by C.P. Stacey in relation to his book, 'A very double life: The private world of Mackenzie King'; certificate of appreciation, letter to, obituary, and letter of condolence to his widow.

Stacey Family 2009 accession

Further records documenting members of the Stacey family, including Charles Edward Stacey, his wife Pearl, his children, Charles Perry (CP) Stacey and Dorothy Brown, and CP's wives, Doris and Helen. Includes C.P.'s correspondence with his mother and Doris during the Second World War and Dorothy and her husband Harcourt Brown; correspondence regarding Doris' estate; and a file of CP's writings. Also includes a stamp album compiled when C.P. was a student at University of Toronto Schools; information on Charles E. Stacey's resignation from the Masons (1896), the sale of his property after his death (1927) and Pearl's investments. Concludes with correspondence with Helen Stacey and Jennifer S. H. Brown concerning C.P.'s personal records.

Stacey Family 1993 accession

Consists of correspondence, estate records, etc. of Doris Shiell Stacey, first wife of Charles P. Stacey. Also includes estate records for Ernest C. Tyrell, uncle of Doris Stacey. Photographs include publicity shots of Doris in various theatre productions, with press clippings describing her performances accompanying these prints, and 1 portrait.

Ham 2019 accession

Family photo album documenting James Ham's childhood into early adulthood including his time working for Ontario Hydro as a student and his time in the Navy during World War II. There is also one family trip diary describing a car trip he took with his wife Mary and their two children to the Northwest Territories in 1971. There are selected slides documenting his trip to the USSR in 1960. There is also a selection of colour slides taken during trips to Asia including an official Uof T trip to China in 1980 as well as a 2nd trip to China and Korea with Mary in 1982. Finally there are photos of the plaque unveiling to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Ajax Campus, 1994

University of Toronto. Students' Administrative Council

Includes administrative records in the form of correspondence, financial documents, minutes of committees, policies and reports documenting many of the activities of the Students' Administrative Council.
Early records to the 1960s are mainly financial and include trial balances, audit reports, budgets, financial statements and reports. There is extensive correspondence from the General Secretary Treasurer, Mr. E.A. MacDonald from 1934-1949 except a brief interlude during the war period when Ms. A.E.M. Parkes took on this acting role. There is correspondence for her tenure for the year 1943-44 only.
Financial records, reports, studies, policies and event files document the period from the mid 1960s to the mid 1980s. There are also files on broader student governing bodies such as the National Federation of Canadian University Students, the Canadian Union of Students and the Ontario Federation of Students.

Macpherson 2018 accession

Accession consists of correspondence, certificates and photographs relating to honours bestowed on Professor C. B. Macpherson, most of which relate to the accompanying C. B. Macpherson Memorial Quilt, designed and made for him in 1989 by Ellen Adams from six of his academic hoods. Also includes two photographs of Macpherson receiving the Order of Canada from Governor General Jules Léger at Rideau Hall in 1977.

2017 acquisition

The majority of the collection is made of movie posters. These posters where those used to advertise the selection of films being shown at the Aron Cinema. The posters represent a large array of films, from the 1950’s to 2011. Most of the film are popular Hollywood titles. There is a small collection of prints, used as promotional material, and a few reels of 35mm theatrical trailers.

Russell Brown’s literary papers include his editorial and correspondence files from his tenure as editor of Lakehead University Review (1972-75); Descant (1978-83); joint editor, An Anthology of Canadian Literature in English (1982-83); and as poetry editor at McClelland and stewart (1983-88).

Elspeth Cameron Papers

Collection of notes, research materials, correspondence relating to her biographies - Hugh Maclennan: a writer's life (1981); Irving Layton: a Portrait, (1985) and Earle Birney: a Life (1994) as well as her annotated bibliography of MacLennan and her recently published memoir, No Previous Experience: a memoir of love and change, (1997). Drafts of articles in Chatelaine and Saturday Night, class notes and administrative correspondence for her teaching at Concordia and University of Toronto, 54 photographs,and audio and video tapes.

A collection of David Young's correspondence, literary manuscripts, business papers, and ephemera. Correspondence includes both business and personal matters from the late 1960s to 1995. The literary papers include multiple drafts and the galleys for his novels Incognito and Agent Provocateur, the notes and drafts for some of his most successful dramatic works, among them Fire, and Glenn, and many TV scripts. Also included are several of his adaptations of works by other authors for radio, such as Carol Shield's Swann, and Michael Ondaatje's In the Skin of a Lion and The English Patient. Drafts of works by other authors edited by Young and his own manuscripts edited by others, including Michael Ondaatje, are also included. The business papers relate to The Writer's Union of Canada, The Writers' Trust, The For/Words Foundation, Coach House Press and The Baffin Island Project. The ephemera documents the Toronto arts scene.

Phyllis Grosskurth Papers

Collection of papers related to her recent biography of Lord Byron, Byron: The Flawed Angel (London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1997). Includes correspondence with her editors in London, Boston and Toronto; four manuscript drafts, page proofs as well as research notes and other correspondence.

Mary L. Northway Papers

A collection of Mary Northway's personal and professional papers. These include her work as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto 1933-1958, but mainly relate to her career as a lecturer and eventually director of research of the Institute of Child Study, University of Toronto, 1938-1968; and her work as director of Brora Institute, 1969-1978. Included are research notes and charts relating to her work in sociometry, and drafts, manuscripts and typescripts of many of her writings, as well as copies of her published works. Related collections are the W.E. Blatz collection in the Fisher Library and the Northway papers at Trent University.
