Program Administration

Series contains documents related to the operation of the National Farm Radio Forum. These documents include meeting minutes, correspondence, reports, surveys, broadcast programming, and copies of Farm Forum Guides.

Early Programming and Planning

File contains assorted documents related to the early operation of the Farm Radio Forum, including correspondence, meeting agendas and minutes, budget reports, lists of available grants, registration forms, survey findings, promotional materials, newsletters, and broadcast programs and suggestions for the recreation period.

Questionnaires

File contains blank questionnaire forms, reports from individual farm forums, summaries of questionnaire responses, and a document with information about action projects.

Program Development

Series contains records related to program development from the 1960s. This program development included the Agriculture Rehabilitation and Development Administration as well as a committee exploring the future of the Farm Radio Forum.

Farm Radio Forum Book 1

File contains research records relating to the operation of the Farm Radio Forum until 1945. These records include notes on folk schools and other pre-farm radio adult education experiments, correspondence, lists of published articles on the Farm Radio Forum, transcripts from broadcasts, memoranda, farm forum registration forms, meeting minutes, lists of farm forum topics, reports, lists of farm forum secretaries, budgets, newsletters, and farm forum study materials.

File also contains correspondence produced in the late 1960s.

Graduate Research - Farm Radio Forum and Adult Education

File contains records produced by Rodger Schwass pursuing graduate study. Records include correspondence, reports, research project outlines and timelines, research paper drafts, course outlines and course notes, memoranda, and several copies of the "Citizens Listening Post" publication produced by the University College of the West Indies.

Rural Sociology

Series contains records on the subject of rural sociology. These records include reports, conference transcripts, articles, studies, correspondence, surveys, pamphlets, newsletters, and a bibliography.

Ten Years of Farm Radio Forum

File contains one scrapbook containing materials collected over the first ten years of the Farm Radio Forum's operation. Materials include questionnaires and summaries of replies, conference programmes, copies of the annual "Report on Activities," photographs of action projects, newspaper articles, correspondence, publicity materials and pamphlets, and Farm Forum Handbooks.

Reports

Series consists of photocopies from the annual Report of the Department of Education of pages discussing the railway car schools from 1926 to 1957. Series also contains two copies of a "Report on the Car Schools of Northern Ontario 1926-1967," published in 1975.

Photographs

Series contains photographs from the railway car schools. Most of the photographs in this series are undated, but will have been taken sometime between 1926 and 1967, when the railway car schools were in operation. Photographs include views of students, students' families, teachers, teachers' families, classes, activities, and exterior and interior views of the rail car, the classroom space, and the teacher's living quarters.

Most of the photographs in this series are copies obtained from a variety of sources, including: the Archives of Ontario, the Canadian Pacific Railways, the Canadian National Railways, the Province of Ontario Picture Bureau (Lantern Slide Department), the Toronto Star, and Life Magazine.

CPR School Car No. 1

File contains photographs of the CPR School Car No. 1. Photographs include views of students, teachers, and exterior and interior views of the rail car, the classroom space, and the teacher's living quarters.

File also contains a small photo album labelled "CPR School Car No. 1 - Chapleau, Ont. 1945." Photos from this album have been kept together.

File contains photographs of the CNR School Car No. 1. Photographs include views of students, students' families, the teacher, the teacher's family, school inspectors, classes, and exterior and interior views of the rail car, the classroom space, and the teacher's living quarters.

Kindergarten Teacher Training collection

The collection contains materials related to Froebelian kindergarten education, practiced in Ontario in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Materials include sample workbooks demonstrating Froebel's Occupations, teachers' lesson books, certificates, and photographs. The collection also includes donation paperwork to provide more context about the creation of the collection.

The collection has been arranged into six series based on creator.

File contains one accordion book with increasingly complex patterns of intricate folded paper pasted in, coloured pencil drawings, and perforated pages with thread sewn through in patterns.

Sewing

File contains an accordion book with increasingly complex designs and patterns sewn into the pages, created by Isabel Harris as a student Kindergartener.

Farm Radio Forum Book 5

File includes correspondence, reports, memoranda, pamphlets, copies of the Farm Forum Guide, discussion questions, summaries of survey responses, questionnaires, and copies of news articles. File also contains a copy of the job posting for a National Secretary for the Farm Radio Forum as well as OISE thesis instructions from 1966-1967.

Series contains records and notebooks documenting Vernon G. Turner's primary education at Maurice Cody Public School (later named Maurice Cody Public Junior School). Content includes school records and report cards, art work, subject and homework notebooks.
