Many documents reflect Brown's personal philosophy of higher education.

Sub-series consists of typed and handwritten research notes and draft manuscripts and typescripts related to 22 works of nonfiction, including articles she published about her academic research on Wyndham Lewis, and personal interest in art, as well as articles related to her role as an educator and professor of English, and reflections on her life as a writer. They have been arranged chronologically, frequently relying on the publication dates of individual pieces, and the publication dates of works cited by Watson. Many of the typescripts are tentatively attributed to Watson, as they do not contain any attributive annotations or comments by her and do not appear to have been published. Works that have been accurately dated to a particular conference or public reading have been filed under the Public readings and conference material sub-series of the Professional activities series. Works such as introductions, prefaces, endorsements and blurbs written by Watson for other authors and publications have been filed under the Editorial and collaborative materials sub-series of the Professional activities series. Research material includes annotated copied of local newspapers, notes on topics including peasant movements in the Middle East and abroad, feudalism, the history of Kurdistan, and an analysis of the interviews. Also included within the sub-series is administrative correspondence with participants, as well as draft manuscripts and editing notes.

Sub-series consists of articles and materials collected by Nouwen on Seward Hiltner. Materials were likely collected while Nouwen was at Notre Dame University and at Yale Divinity School. The material was likely collected for use in courses that Nouwen was teaching from 1967 to 1975 at Notre Dame, the Joint Pastoral Institute in Amsterdam, Catholic Theological Institute of Utrecht, and Yale. The courses were on the topic of Pastoral Care. The material might also have informed Nouwen's Theology degree, but this needs more research. In a letter in the file titled "Nouwen correspondence regarding Hiltner material" Nouwen writes, "I am presently involved in research concerning Seward Hiltner, and am trying to collect as many of his writings as possible."
Seward Hiltner (1909 - 1984) was an American Presbyterian minister who lived his life and work focused on the interface between psychology and theology. He believed that the two disciplines are vital to each other and that together they were a decisive force in shaping pastoral care and counseling. In addition to many other positions, Hiltner was the theological consultant for the Menninger Clinic as well as executive secretary for the Council of Clinical Training of Theological Students (founded by Boisen in 1930).

This sub-series consists of 166 items, including the original linen plans form the contract set, exhibiting the architect's official impression, the civil engineer's official stamp, and official signatures of both Trinity College and Cloke Construction Company.

Sub-series consists primarily of correspondence relating to gifts made to Victoria University, predominantly to the library, 1979-1985, 1992, 2002. Also consists of a presentation regarding The Wood Family's benefactions to Victoria College, 1995.

Subseries consists of records documenting Dr. Franklin’s family and early life. The first file is a scrapbook on the history of the Martius family, dating back to the 15th century. The scrapbook includes a long paper, in German, on the history of the family, as well as captioned photographs and postcards. Series also includes a diary, written in German, from 1945. The bulk of the subseries consists of correspondence sent to and from Dr. Franklin, primarily after she moved to Canada. There are many letters between Dr. Franklin and her family in Germany, as well as letters to friends and colleagues.

The subseries concludes with records documenting Dr. Franklin’s attempts to sponsor her mother’s immigration to Canada in 1949.

Sub-series consists of handwritten and typed drafts and manuscripts of four of Watson's six published short stories, namely "Brother Oedipus", "Antigone", "The Rumble Seat" and "And the four animals..." and five unpublished short stories, featuring the characters Hania, Oedipus, Eurydice, Orpheus, Daedalus and Aesop, and a fragment of literary prose fictionalizing her experiences in Paris. There is no surviving documentation of Watson's first published short story "Rough Answer", which appeared in The Canadian Forum 18: 212 (September 1938): 178-180, nor "The Black Farm (A Modern Allegory)", which was first published in Queen's Quarterly 63:2 (Summer 1954): 220-228. The files have been arranged chronologically, frequently relying on the publishing dates of the short stories.

Subseries consists of Farm Radio Forum records that had been compiled for research purposes, as well as additional handwritten research notes. These records and notes had been stored in binders and arranged by the creator into five "books" according to year.

Subseries consists of blueprint-style manuscripts, manuscripts written in ink or pencil, and copies of blueprint scores. Most of the manuscripts are Leslie Bell's arrangements of popular songs, show tunes, hymns, and other songs, with some original compositions. Information about the original composers, intended ensembles, dates, and where and when the songs were performed is not consistently recorded in the manuscripts' heading. The manuscripts are generally autographed with one of the following: Leslie Bell, Leslie Richard Bell, L.B., or L.R.B. The arrangements are predominantly for the Leslie Bell Singers (originally the Alumnae Singers), formed in 1939.

Subseries consists of records relating to Dr. Franklin’s early academic life (as Ursula Maria Martius) when she was studying experimental physics at the Technical University of Berlin. Records include academic correspondence, drafts of her PhD thesis, “Die Anregung von Leuchtstoffen mit Gammastrahlen und Röntgenstrahlen verschiedener Wellenlänge” (1948), as well as the academic work of some of her colleagues, including Immanuel Broser, Hartmut Kallmann and R. Warminsky.

This sub-series contains 237 items detailing the design, development, and construction of Strachan Hall, Henderson Tower, and Whitaker House. Pencil on tissue architectural detail drawings are included, as are 'as built' architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings. While it contains material very similar to that found in the general correspondence files of Brown's predecessors, the series is smaller in size than the previous two, reflecting the fact that the bulk of Brown's correspondence is to be found in the general and specialized subject files which form separate series. The letters discuss fund-raising and finances, as well as more academic matters such as appointments and curriculum. Under the Victoria University Act of 1944, the offices of President and Chancellor were separated for the first time since 1884, reflecting the increasingly onerous administrative duties of the President. Brown and his successors as President relinquished some of their ceremonial functions in favour of the title of Vice-Chancellor. Brown's presidency was ground-breaking in another sense as well: although trained in theology, he was the first layman to hold the position. Victoria's relationship with the United Church, nevertheless, continued to be of vital importance. Brown's term of office was a stressful one, encompassing as it did severe financial deficits requiring careful economy and aggressive fund-raising, the disruption of the Second World War, and then the strain placed upon Victoria's physical and human resources by booming enrollment in the immediate post-war years. Despite these heavy demands, Brown continued the policy of his predecessors in becoming personally acquainted with every student at Victoria and Emmanuel.
