Last wills and testaments

Sub-series consists of three files regarding the wills of various individuals and estates of whom Watson was executrix, or where Watson was a beneficiary.

Guides

Sub-series consists of one leader's guide to Nouwen's book Letters to Marc about Jesus. The book was produced by the publisher of Nouwen's book as a learning aid. Through a series of questions and exercises it attempts to help the reader gain in their own spiritual life through Nouwen's book. The book has been described at the item level.

Office of Advancement/Development Office

The subseries B.10 Office of Advancement / Development Office covers the years 1968 to 2006. The Office of Advancement is responsible for curating alumni relations, prospect research, facilitating gifts and planned giving, and fundraising. The subseries includes course calendars, alumni directories, and issues of the Scarborough College Alumni Newsletter (SCAN), the Campaign Quarterly, and ScarboroughLive.

Collected Essays IV (Proposed)

This sub-series consists of correspondence and preliminaries for the creation of another text Collected Essays IV (Proposed 2013) with a working title “Adam Smith on ‘Natural Liberty’ and the Correction of Market Failure, and other Essays on Classical and Marxian Political Economy.

College and Universities Retiree Association of Canada (CURAC)

Sub-series consists of material documenting Prof. Russell’s involvement with the College and Universities Retiree Association of Canada (CURAC). His activity with the organization began at its founding as he participated in initial 2002 meeting of the CURAC Steering Committee and helped draft the organization’s Constitution. Prof. Russell would later become its Founding President (beginning in 2003 for a 2-year term) and continued serving on various committees throughout the decade.

Material documents executive and committee activities predominantly covering the period between 2003 and 2008. Files include Board of Director minutes, documentation of incorporation, planning for annual conferences and general meetings, membership surveys and the activities of various committees, publicity material and correspondence.

Retired Academics and Librarians of the University of Toronto (RALUT)

Sub-series consists of records documenting Prof. Russell’s participation in the Retired Academics and Librarians of the University of Toronto (RALUT). At its founding, the organization focused on issues surrounding pensions at the UofT and the continued academic activity of faculty members following retirement. Prof. Russell served as the organization’s Founding President. Material covers activities of the Executive Committee, Benefits Committee, Pension Committee, and the Joint Working Group on Retirement Issues, in addition to an address given by Peter Russell at the organization’s 2006 annual general meeting.

Office of Admission and Student Recruitment

The subseries B.11 Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment covers the year 1986. The Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment is responsible for recruiting and processing enrollment for new students of the university. The subseries includes one booklet.

Wilson’s support of Metro Toronto’s application to the CRTC to review recent and proposed increases in Local Channel Rates by Bell Canada.

Department of Human Geography

Subseries C.11, Department of Human Geography, covers the years 1973 through 1974 and 1981 through 1982. The subseries includes a timetable and a guidebook for geography.

Subseries C.12, Department of Management, covers the years 1975 through 1976 and 1996. The subseries includes a newsletter for management and economics as well as a handbook and programme description for the co-operative programme in public administration.

Communications & Public Affairs

The subseries B.12 Communications & Public Affairs covers the years 1996 to 1992, 2002, and 2005. The department of Communications & Public Affairs, composed in part from prior departments such as Publications Office and the Community Relations Office, is responsible for the outward promotion of the university’s image to stakeholders, including prospective and current students, through various media channels. The department also publishes the Annual Review, the annual student recruitment Viewbook, and other publications; it is responsible for the website and social media outlets; and it directs marketing and advertising of the university. The files in this subseries include issues of many Scarborough College/UTSC publications, including the Bulletin, UTSC Live, To Be Taken Internally/Internally Yours, Spectrum, and Inside UTSC, as well as other documentation.

NutraSweet case

Records relating to Wilson’s retention by the Director of Investigation and Research to advise on a case before the Competition Tribunal on the aspartame market and matters between the Holland Sweetener Company and Tosoh Canada Limited. Wilson prepared reports and evidence on competition in the artificial sweetener market.

The subseries B.13 Committees with Unknown Office of Origin covers the years 1969 to 1993 and 1998 to 2003. Where possible, committee files have been placed with their office of origin. However, where the office is unknown, the committee files have been placed here in alphabetical order. If the originating office of a committee is discovered, the files will be moved from this subseries to their proper location, above. The files in this subseries include committee reports, minutes, agendas, and other documents.

Samson Cree case

Records relating to Wilson’s advice to the Samson Cree of Alberta, relating to their opposition to the Canadian government’s handling of their trust moneys from oil revenues, and possible breach of Treaty No. 6 (Chief Victor Buffalo et al. v. Her Majesty the Queen et al.)

Telesat

Records relate to Wilson’s advice regarding Telesat’s application for Earth segment forbearance, as well as matters regarding competition, pricing and rates. Some records also relate to other companies represented elsewhere in this series, including Unitel.
