  • Typed letter from André Antoine to Madame Ancey, dated «21 Août 1916», on letterhead «28, Place Dauphine. Tél.: Gobelins 03-59». Cannot visit because of rehearsals. Is discovering cinema, which is probably a new art. His son [?] will soon be in the air force. Friends are loosing family members. Hope the Anceys will be back in Paris soon.
  • Typed letter from André Antoine to Madame Ancey, dated «Le 10 Avril 1931», on letterhead «28, Place Dauphine. Tél.: Odéon 03-59». Does not know if he will go to Camaret for the summer; his health is not so good. His sons are working, and their presence would have brought him to Camaret. Apologizes for typing the letter, is almost incapable of writing.
  • Autograph letter from André Antoine to Madame Ancey, dated «mercredi 10 [1932, according to note pencilled in right hand corner], on letterhead «Golf Hotel. La Ciotat-Plage». Does not wish to go to Camaret, which is now a desert for him. Has given the house to his sons. Is simplifying his life. Has found a manuscript, which he hopes to bring to her. Sees Wolff every Sunday for lunch. Is feeling better. Hopes to be able to work for as long as possible. In October, will publish a Histoire du théâtre de 1870 à 1920 – several pages are devoted to Ancey. Concludes: «You are, I believe, the only woman I have esteemed and loved.»

Is with a nurse (after all, he is 78). The theater is probably dying, the cinema is the art of the future, and after all, why not. A new art is necessary for a new world. – If the generals succeed in Spain, France may be spared Bolshevism. Hopes to see her in Paris.

André Antoine - letters to Jacques Grétillat

  • Typed letter from André Antoine to Jacques Grétillat, dated «Camaret, 16 juillet 1913», on letterhead «Théâtre national de l’Odéon. Second théâtre français». By contract, Grétillat has to be ready to work on the Fête nationale. Antoine cannot accept his request of being compensated. Grétillat is threatening Antoine – Antoine is willing to let go of Grétillat if he is unhappy. Antoine appreciates Grétillat and tells him to talk to him directly if necessary.
  • Autograph letter from André Antoine to Jacques Grétillat, dated «Camaret, 10 décembre», on letterhead (crossed out) «28, Place Dauphine». Is glad to hear from Grétillat, who is not far from the front line. Antoine has tried to enrol in the army, but was turned down. Is in Camaret with his youngest son. Has a project, and will to Grétillat about it when the time comes.

File consists of correspondence and other material regarding Nouwen's attendance at the Ordination Anniversary celebration for Don McNeill at Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame, Indiana. Includes a long letter from McNeill speaking of his experiences in Chile. Also includes correspondence and other material regarding Nouwen speaking at Bethany House, Oakland, California. Includes letters from Joe Collins requesting to see Nouwen while he is in California. Includes postcards, programs, and a travel itinerary for the week. Also includes an essay in French entitled Les Deux Premières Étapes du Cheminement Spirituel à L'Arche à la Lumière des Exercices Spirituels de Saint Ignace by Frank Janin.

Annotated and edited manuscript of Deep Hollow Creek

File consists of a 143 page photocopied typescript of Deep Hollow Creek heavily annotated by both Watson and Ellen Seligman, an editor from McClelland & Stewart, as well as correspondence from Seligman, a six page mock-up of front matter for the published book, eight pages of editorial comments from Seligman and a 30-page photocopy of Watson's hand-written comments and edits.

Annotated photocopied manuscript of Deep Hollow Creek

File consists of a 143 page photocopy of Watson's original typescript of "Deep Hollow Creek", which has been revised and annotated by Watson and Fred T. Flahiff. This typescript has been bound with a plastic ring spine.

Annual Conference of the Catholic School Chaplains of Ontario - January 20, 1993

File consists of correspondence with Brian Halferty, regarding Nouwen acting as the keynote speaker for the Annual Conference of the Catholic School Chaplains of Ontario at Mount Carmel, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The theme of the event was "We Come to Share Our Story." Includes a schedule for the event and a list of themes and related questions. Also includes a letter of response from Nouwen stating that he can only participate in the first day of the event.

Annual National Prayer Breakfast, Ottawa - March 21, 1991

File consists of correspondence and other material, mainly with Jim Edwards, M.P. and Bill Bussiere, regarding Nouwen's participation in the National Prayer Breakfast in Ottawa, Ontario. Nouwen gave the address for the breakfast on the theme "Beloved." Includes invitations, programs, music, travel itinerary, travel costs, a transcript of the event including Nouwen's address, and notes in Nouwen's hand for the address. Correspondence regarding arrangements for the event and thank-you letters from many people are included with a copy of Nouwen's response. A videotape of the event and a photograph of Nouwen with Brian Mulrooney were sent to Nouwen with a letter from Jim Edwards but are not in the file. Also includes a signed program by Brian Mulrooney. Some of the materials are in French.

Another Poem About Time Written at the Onset of Middle Age [Jay MillAr]

File consists of 1 chapbook with prose by Jay MillAr and images by Natalia Moskwa. The chapbook is printed on deckle edged paper and housed in a white envelope with "Someone Editions Little Letterpress #1, and #39" written on the back of the envelope. Two stickers of illustrations by Moskwa (?) are also on the envelope.

The colophon of the chapbook states:

Arthème Fayard et Cie, Éditeurs. 18-20, rue du Saint-Gothard, 18-20 – Paris (14e)».Henri Duvernois confirms what Antoine and himself discussed the night before. Les Oeuvres libres will publish Antoine’s book on Turkey, for 7,000 francs. The ms should be submitted in June.

File consists of a copy of a dissertation entitled, "Anton T. Boisen: De ontwikkeling van zijn persoon en werk" by Harry Stroeken, written in 1977. [Translation of thesis title page: Anton Boisen "The development of his person and work", Catholic university of Leuven (Belgium), Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences. PhD thesis, Presented to obtain a PhD in Psychology by Harry Stroeken under supervision of Prof. Dr. A Vergote].

File consists of two rough drafts and one final draft of an article by Nouwen entitled, "Anton T. Boisen and the Case Method in Theological Education". Draft 3 is the earlier draft and contains edits by Nouwen. Draft 2 contains edits by an unknown person.

File consists of two copies of a manuscript entitled, “Anton T. Boisen and the Psychology of Religion” by Paul W. Pruyser, of The Menninger Foundation. File also contains a typed summary of a book by Boisen entitled, “Problems in Religion and Life”.

File consists of the appraisal of Nouwen’s ordination chalice (a gift from his Uncle Antonius Ramselaar), from Gem Service, a division of Harold Weinstein Ltd.
