Fonds consists of pencil drawings executed by Ellen Simon as designs for the stained glass windows on the east wall of Strachan Hall, Trinity College. At the time she was working for the Yvonne Williams Studio, and the work was commissioned by Gerald Larkin. Three of the windows were completed. The fonds also includes a statement written by Ellen Simon in 1999 regarding the commission, design and execution of the windows.

This accession comprises the entire fonds of personal letters of Mrs. Elspeth Clark to her mother, Mrs. Isabella Bertram Fripp, dating from embarkation by ship with her two children, Edwin and Shirley, in July 1940 until May, 1944, shortly before their return to England. The letters written on a weekly basis describe travel conditions aboard ship and overland to Toronto, and details regarding day to day life of herself and her children as guests of the CBOC in Toronto. Details of daily life include living conditions, children’s schooling (Edwin at U.T.S. and Shirley at Bishop Strachan) illnesses and other medical needs, summer camps, and Mrs. Clark’s work with the Red Cross, Hart House, and the War Guest Mothers’ Club, among others. In addition to the letters from Mrs. Clark are also the occasional enclosed letters of her children, Edwin and Shirley, to their grandmother. Additional notes by her son, E.F. clarify context of some information such as her memoir. Letter log books (1940-1949) provide dates, to whom sent and summary of contents of each letter. The log books also include lists, name and addresses and other notes relating to their stay in Toronto. Also included are photographs documenting Mrs. Clark, her children and other people relating to their stay in Canada.

These black and white photographs depict the University of Toronto campus and its buildings. Included are unique images of houses along St George St. as well as several winter campus scenes, aerials and elevated views. They were collected by Eric Aldwinckle, who, although best know as a war artist, illustrated Morley Callaghan's book The Varsity Story, as well as several covers and inside drawings for the Varsity Graduate. The photographs in this collection may have been collected to support his work in this capacity.

This finding aid has been compiled from inventories of the four accessions prepared by Harold Averill and Garron Wells. The fonds describes the personal records of Dr. Ernest McCulloch documenting his career as professor of medicine and administrator at the University of Toronto, and as medical researcher and author of over 200 articles mainly relating to his work on leukaemia and other blood related disorders. Arranged in 17 series, this fonds contains professional and personal correspondence, files relating to administrative activities at the University of Toronto and the Ontario Cancer Institute/Princess Margaret Hospital, subject files on external activities with various professional and academic organizations, editorial boards, etc., teaching materials including lecture notes and extensive research materials documenting experiments relating to cell growth in mice conducted during the 1960's . Also included are graphic materials documenting activities such as meetings and awards as well as illustrations for presentations and publications.

This fonds contains records related to the professional activities and personal life of Dr. Ernest Mastromatteo, occupational physician. The bulk of the material in this fonds documents his roles as a medical practitioner, researcher, and occupational health director. The series documenting the activities of the Nickel Producers’ Environmental Research Association, an association Dr. Mastromatteo was heavily involved in during the 1980s, is the largest, with smaller series documenting his career at Inco, his work with the American Conference of Governmental and Industrial Hygienists, and his many projects, case studies, organizations, associations and societies, as well as legal cases he provided testimony in. There is also a relatively large amount of material documenting his research in the form of addresses, and additional material chronicling his time as a student at both the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and the School of Hygiene.

Records include correspondence, notebooks, publications, drafts, prints, reports, meeting minutes and memoranda.

Fonds also contains the records of Frieda Fraser's lifetime companion, Edith (Bud) Bickerton Williams, a veterinarian, including extensive correspondence between Frieda and Bud that documents their personal lives as a same-sex couple, as well as their professional lives as women in medicine in the early 20th century. The correspondence has been noted for its significance both in terms of both Canadian lesbian history and the history of medicine. [1]
Also included are course and laboratory notes, lecture notes, research files and notebooks, addresses, drafts of articles, prize books, photographs and slides, sketches and watercolours, the Zahn Family Chronicle and other family history items.
