Included in this accession are the personal bound letter books belonging to educator, journalist and graduate of the University of Toronto William Houston. The two bound volumes date from Dec. 31 1883 to June 13 1891 and from July 6 1891 to Nov. 8 1895. The correspondence covers the period that Houston was a member of the University of Toronto Senate and Legislative Librarian. Also included are notes on Houston family history compiled by Mrs. Eila Hopper-Ross, grand niece of William Houston (ca. 1980s - 2000).
Fonds also includes 2 photographs: a portrait of William Houston ca. 1923 and a photograph of John Houston standing in front of the family home in Waterdorwn, 1937.
Also includes one piece of correspondence from John Houston to "cousin" Theresa McAfee (1935).

This fonds contains records related to the researching and publishing activities of Professor John Greer Slater, philosopher and professor at the University of Toronto. The series documenting both his research on Bertrand Russell, and the publication of his book Minerva’s Aviary, are the two largest. There is also a relatively large amount of material documenting his administrative activities within the Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto and his book collecting. Throughout this fonds there are a lot of press clippings, particularly in his personal and autobiographical records, though there are also many in the Bertrand Russell series and the Department of Philosophy Series.
The records include correspondence, notes, drafts, manuscripts, press clippings and photographs.
The bulk of the records are contained in accession B2014-0039. Also included are 2 boxes of correspondence, memoranda, reports, monographs and newspaper clippings accumulated by Professor Slater as a member of the Provost's Committee to Review the Relationships between the University of Toronto and OISE (accession B1985-0026) found in Series 3.
Notably absent from this fonds is any teaching material. In addition, the Addresses series contains mainly flyers about addresses that Professor Slater has either given or attended, but does not contain the text of any of his addresses.

Steacy’s student days at Trinity College, his time as Chaplain during the First World War, and his role in the church community following the war. Contains archival materials pertaining to French explorer Joseph de Brettes’ (1861-1934) expeditions to South America including two to Gran Chaco. Collection includes a steel cranial measuring device; a steel archaeological specimen; two offprint accounts written and illustrated by De Brettes describing his expeditions and scientific work in South America; and an offprint bibliographical outline of De Brettes’ extensive explorations in South America and elsewhere as well as his naval and army service.
Also includes album of autographs collected while in South America; 3 photographic identification cards; his personal library bookplate; an offprint poem signed and dedicated by French poet Jehan Rictus; as well as correspondence connected with his efforts as Vice-President of a Portuguese railway company, in particular dealing with a meeting with the King, including 3 manuscript telegrams sent from Lisbon September 1905 and 2 manuscript letters dated 1905.

G.K. Chesterton Archival Collection
The collection consists of manuscripts of many published works, illustrations from Chesterton's time at the Slade School of Art and later, correspondence with family and friends, and albums of press clippings. There are also microfiche copies of the papers of Chesterton's wife Frances (1875-1938), including her plays and poems. Additionally, the collection contains material added by Dorothy Collins after Chesterton's death.
In addition to the Chesterton papers on microfiche the G.K. Chesterton Archival Collection contains 10 original illustrations as well as one of Chesterton's sketchbooks. Most of the sketches date from his period at the Slade School of Art, but there are several from earlier.
The Papers of Monsignor John O'Connor (1870-1952) are also a part of the G.K. Chesterton Archival Collection. Monsignor O'Connor was the Catholic priest who became the model for Chesterton's character "Father Brown". In February 1903 O'Connor wrote to Chesterton, and the following year they formed an immediate bond of friendship which was to last more than thirty years. In 1921 O'Connor was present at Chesterton's reception into the Catholic Church. The papers of Monsignor O'Connor include a number of manuscripts of his poems and essays, Christmas greetings from the Chesterton's, personal letters, and newspaper clippings by and about Chesterton.
