Also includes Practice Sheet dated April 1905, 3 lettering charts and "Bill of Materials for Marine Boiler, Jan. 1906. All drawings are pen and ink with some watercolour. Size: 56 cm X 38 cm. (1 box, 1903-1920)

B2003-0015: Three photographs originally belonging to engineering graduate Chester B. Hamilton Jr. documenting engineering students at the University of Toronto. Hamilton received a Diploma in 1906, a B.A.Sc in 1908 and an M.E. in 1920. Included are group portraits of students in the mechanical and drafting rooms (1906) as well as a composite portrait of the Mechanical Club 1937-38 of which Hamilton was Honorary Chairman.

B2004-0008: This accession is largely made up of notebooks and loose notes taken by Byron A. Griffith while a student of Math and Physics and a lecturer in Applied Mathematics. Griffith went on to get a PhD. in Mathematics in 1936 and taught Applied Mathematics at the University of Toronto for over two decades. More notably, he played an early role in establishing the University of Toronto Computation Centre. Also included is Griffith's Ph.D. Thesis (1936), some correspondence including a letter from Josef Katz and a memoir entitled : "My Early Days in Toronto" which discusses, among other things, the early days of computers at the University of Toronto. Parts of this was published in the IEEE Annals of History of Computing, (Vol 16, no. 2 p.55-64). (1 box, 1928-1966)

B2007-0005: This accession is made up of course notebooks belonging to Byron A. Griffith, while a student of Math and Physics. Included are notes on 1st and 3rd year Physics and 3rd year Properties of Matter courses. Two volumes of course notes taken by Frederick Barber Goodwillie while a student in the Faculty of Arts at University College. The first is of notes on lectures in Medieval History delivered by Charles Allan Stuart, who took over from Sir Daniel Wilson at the beginning of March, 1892 and taught for the remainder of the term. The second volume contains notes of the complete set of lectures delivered by Professor William John Alexander to fourth year honours students in English (October 1893 to April 1894).

B2000-0018: One surveying instrument called a planimeter, which was made in 1893 and used by John Galbraith, the first Head of the Ontario School of Practical Science and later, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering.

The fonds consists of three notebooks with handwritten notes from Ellis, a 1921 publication by his daughter titled “A Family Record”, and a book, titled “The Elements of Materia Medica & Therapeutics” by Johathan Pereira, marked with inscriptions. One notebook records his career in forensic science with his handwritten notes from criminal cases and correspondence with individuals such as the attorney general and coroner’s offices.

Two scrapbooks compiled by Jabez Henry Elliott, professor of the History of Medicine, documenting his attendance at the 10 and 11th International Congresses on the History of Medicine that were held in Madrid and Toledo, Spain in 1935 and in Yugoslavia in 1938, respectively. Elliott was sent as the representative for the University of Toronto. The first scrapbook contains programmes, a running typed report on the conference, press coverage, annotated photographs, conference pamphlets and brochures (including one on the history of medicine). The second scrapbook includes his report to President Cody on the conference . It also contains tourist brochures and maps of the period, postcards and original photographs of sites throughout Yugoslavia including Belgrade, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Mostar and Dubrovnik. Also includes memorabilia such as invitations and programmes attended by Elliott during his stay.
